  • That seatguru.com site is very useful - if it is accurate.

Out of Continental, American and BA I would go for BA. Check the aircraft they use. The 747-400 is usually a good bet whereas the smaller twins (767, A330) sometimes don't have some facilties (e.g.seat back video). Once you know the aircraft scheduled for the flight check seatguru.com. BA usually use a 747-400 whereas Cotinental and American often use the 767.

Of course the 747 is better for ultimate safety. Four engines are always going to be better than two on longhaul flights.

Seatguru is good - I also use flightstats.com to find all routes/flights and airliners.net to see the aircraft (Select aircraft type and airline, as you've found in flightstats.com, then look at 'cabin views'. - Has done me proud in the past.

Do you work for Iraqs ministry of information?

what makes you say that stiffnuts?

if it's about the us/european carriers, then it's pretty well known that the US carriers are doing severe cost cutting at the moment removing all the niceties that you still get in europe or the far/middle eastern carriers.

This thread shows how airline preferences vary from person to person. I smiled that someone praised Lufthansa: I would avoid them because I found their seats extremely cramped (I didn't even have enough space to operate the personal CD player that I had brought with me). I have heard many bad things about NWA, but some posters report good experiences with them.

You're spot o nthere - I recently flew to the far east on Air France and thought it was great.. sure you can't find many people that would say that!

Well you said BA dont charge for Beer.

You said AA charge for checked in luggage.

Both of which are not strictly true

Normally I would go for the cheapest comfortable option, but after hearing some news yesterday, I'm tempted to say BA.
The rumour is that, because of the recession, many American companies are changing their travel policies so that they will only fly with American carriers. Hmmm...

hmmm - that's true.. I'm sure I'd heard that AA now charged for baggage, but you're right, on transatlantic it appears to be included. - Am I thinking of domestic AA flights?

as for drinks though, I'm sure BA don't charge for regular alcoholic drinks, and AA definately do - last time I flew with them it was $5, and I think it might be $7 now. last time on BA I did my best to empty the 744 of London Pride!

That was me who said Lufthansa. I have flown with them a few times and their staff seem quite nice.

One time I was coming back from NY and in the middle of the flight I got realllllllllll bad stomach pains. One of the staff came over and asked if i was ok because she saw the look on my face. I said I just needed to rest and wanted no big fuss...well 5 mins later the onboard "doctor" came and asked if they could do anything and then said if the other classes weren't full they would have moved us (husband too) so I could have been more comfy. They checked back on me a few times during the flight..so yeah..that is why I said Lufthansa. They seemed to care quite a bit and us being in cattle class..says alot to me :)

There will always be good and bad experiences with airlines but the WORST for me has got to be Ryan Air heh. ACK!

We flew with Canadian Affair both times - much cheapness, no seat back TVs, but polite efficient staff, which is all we require really. Flown to Toronto and back, into Vancouver and then home from Calgary.Used the money we saved on flights for a car upgrade (to 4x4), which we considered more important as driving round Western Canada we spent a lot more time in the car than on the plane.
