Massive victory for Bank Charge reclaiming News Article Discussion

Don't give them the £100. Put in a claim and then tell them the accounts in dispute.
I used to work for bacrlays about 14 yrs ago in the customer services dept. I t may have changed now, but the arguement of going overdrawn through being charged never used to instigate more charges. Basically, if it were charges that made you overdrawn, then they couldnt charge you for going over!!
But i would check that now as the law will probably have changed with all the banks being ultra defensive0 -
Driving banks into the ground is a little counter-productive isn't it? Have you seen what happens when financial institutions lose their stability?
And penalising banks in civil law is a little hypocritical given that the basis of the claim is that the charges are unlawful penalties.
If the charges are found to be unfair, I wonder which bank is going to fall next, only for us all to have to pay to keep it afloat.0 -

The tax payer ( in our house it the hubby!!) will inadvertingly bail out more banks than i dare to think of. The fact that they still paid that £650k bonus whilst suffering a gigantic loss just beggars belief (sp)0 -

hear hear!
Yes! I also think we should jail Tesco bosses, because I've heard that they also charge us customers MORE THAN IT COSTS THEM TO BUY THE FOOD in the first place. Shocking, what do they expect - to be able to make a profit or something? It's almost like they are running some sort of business....0 -

Did you also here that Tesco's are making a profit. I think the op's views are rather harsh but theres little point in you replying with this nonsense.0 -

i bought a 7.5kg bag of potatoes just last friday for a great price of £1.99, now i went to get the same bag on tuesday..... £3.49!! And the government say that inflation wasnt as high as they had predicted, then why is a bag of spuds an extra £1.50 in just a few days??????
Unfortunately, i needed them so as is the case with many food items that are going up in price on a daily basis, i think its flipping shocking that they are allowed to do this. End rant.....:mad::mad::mad::mad:0 -
The banks have made a large proffit for many years at our expense, and if they had not used all that to pay bonus then there would be enough left to pay the claims they are now expected to deal with.
I don't suspect the tesco's ex boss is on a £650,000ish pension.0 -

Profits are declared after bonuses have been paid.
Terry Leahy is on a fair old whack, I assure you. Mind you, he's an excellent manager.0 -

It isn't nonsense. You seem to be missing the point regarding ALL businesses charging customers more than it actually costs to provide the goods/service - that's the whole point of commerce.0
