Yeh it does take a while to get through it all but it's well worth it! I've been on here for about a year and I havent even scratched the surface.

  • You sound as though you know your stuff, I'm sure we'll all get there in the end!!!

Just checked the Natwest account £600 :j I thought it was only £500! Couldn't withdraw any money, had to request a cardreader?? No idea if I've done the right thing? Oh well it'll be here within 15 days so I'll just need to wait and see. Will go to bank tomorrow and close 7% account and get my mum to find out how to close my share account.

Feeling quite good about all this now then I look at my debt figure and want to cry...but tomorrows another day (hopefully a NSD!!)

Yeh I had to order a card reader for my Natwest account, is lame. I haven't actually used it yet.

Congrats on finding extra money though, that's always a good start!

  • This site is so addictive, was on here until well after 3 this morning and here I am again! Just posted on the 'what small things have you done today' tread and thought I would post on here so I can update later:
    • [strike]Go to bank and close savings account,[/strike] - done!!
    • [strike]Reduce overdraft to £1650 with savings money,[/strike] - done!!
    • Take some clothes back that I bought a few days ago that I know I can live without, no time, will do tomorrow!
    • [strike]Have lunch before I leave the house and take dinner to work so I don't need to buy anything,[/strike] - done
    • Try to put at least 2 things on Ebay (I'm new to that as well and it takes me ages to work it all out)
    • [strike]Have a NSD!!![/strike] - so far so good!!!
Have a fun day everyone and take care

  • Hi,

  • Hiya Laura.... 3am, wow! You must be tired this morning!?!

Good luck with the eBaying. I use Turbolister when I'm ebaying, you can 'build' the listing offline first. Don't know if it will help but I find it easier.
Well done on shutting down the accounts, I didn't like getting rid of my savings, but it makes sense to do it.

  • Just wanted to drop by to say good luck, Laura! You've definitely come to the right place for advice, encouragement and support. :D Most of us here have been in a similar situation. This site has been invaluable to me. It has opened my eyes completely to how to control my spending, instead of it controlling me :j

Come and take a look at the payment a day thread. We make small payments to our debts, which add up to big amounts. I only joined in November, and have already paid off almost £300 - money that I would have once just frittered way

Well done on posting - looking forward to reading about your progress :j

  • Hi debttornado, SarahNeedle1872 and penniesgrowintopounds thanks for all your lovely positive input!! I'll definately look into the Turbolister thanks Sarah, anything to make it a little less time consuming!! Payment a day sounds good! £300 is great, I fritter away so much it makes me feel sick. Going to start a spending diary. Was going to begin today but aiming for a NSD so it'll have to wait!!

Just text my friend and told her I can't go on the girlie weekend that we were planning at the end of March. I can't afford it without using my overdraft, which is what I was planning on doing but that's just a stupid idea. We've already been away twice in the last 6 months of so (thanks to my overdraft!!!) so there's no need. I have never ever said no to her before but I'm so tired of trying to keep up with everyone else and their spending and pretending I have more money than I actually have. But no more!!!

  • I know what you mean - my OH is always trying to keep up with his mates and it always seems to cost us. He never wants to say no we can't afford it, or do things cheaply. He has only just stopped 'lending' money to a friend (who has never paid us back - must be £100s). I think the good thing about the credit crunch is that people are more likely to accept you saying you can't afford it - it may be that they think the same but are too embarrassed to say so!
