Thanks Lynsey - I mostly travel to Turkey, Tunisia or the States so would like to find one that's 0% outwith the EU.
Not really right for this section but - if I kept the Nationwide for spending at home and got another for holidays, would that be a bad thing for credit rating? - if anyone knows where I could post this question I'd be grateful!

Martin's article on the subject recommends Abbey Zero and Post Office Credit Cards. Keep Nstionwide debit card however as it'll still be the cheapest.
Thanks - I'll have a look at the Abbey and Post Office to be on the safe side!

I always use the Nationwide Debit card when abroad. Last month I used it in Dubai and for the first time I had problems with it. At first my ATM transactions were declined, then it worked for a few days. The last time I used it (thankfully) I was flashed the message "Your Pin change has been sucessful", which if it was changed would have scuppered my holiday.

Thankfully I got through and had enough money on my Nat West card.

I have the Gold credit card (for paying for meals and shopping etc) and the flexaccount (for taking money out of the hole in the wall) - will I be charged if using this in Cypus now?

Useful but unfortunately hasn't helped in this particular case - Turkey is covered but Tunisia isn't so it looks like I either need to change card altogether or keep the Nationwide one for home and travel to Turkey and get another one for Tunisian trips.
