If I have read it right there will not be a charge for Spain!
...That would be because Spain is (or was, last time I checked) in Europe.
Visa has always charged a small fee for non-Europe transactions, and now Nationwide wants to pass it on. It makes you wonder though: banks have claimed for years that they charge 'in order to pass on charges from card companies', yet within Europe Visa has never charged the banks anything... Banks lying through their teeth, who'd have thought it?! :rolleyes:0 -
Just checked official NW site and thankfully no charges for Switzerland, tend to go three or four times a year and the joy of just getting on the internet and transferring holiday money to Flex account and using the card for every purchase, cash withdrawl without messing around, having to order currency and paying charges for every transaction, makes life much easier . :T0

so where does tenerife come into this
can't seem to find it on there site0 -
There's a number on their site to call with any questions and this sounds like something only the N/W can answer.0

No mention on the site of any charges for the basic Cash Card Account which uses the Cirrus- Maestro system so hopefully just getting cash from an overseas hole in the wall will still be free !

I think we all know that, however Tenerife is not part of the EU, hence the valid question.0 -
Tenerife (along with the other Canary Islands) is a part of the EU and exempt from this new charge. However, they are not in the “European Union Value Added Tax Area” – a quick search on popular search engines will bring up the details.0

Strange that there were no rumblings of this before. Which? Money - including the March 2009 issue - is always singing the praises of this card, April's tables will be interesting..Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!
