Thank you for all your help. I am surprised they are that quick as anything good on MSE has too many customers to deal with.
  • Once you've set up online access with Coventry BS, any future accounts you might want to open with them, only takes a couple of minutes.

Last year the base rate dived a shortly after Coventry BS announced the Poppy bond. Everyone knew they were going to pull it within days. I had the account open in minutes and was loading it with cash within hours.

I also opened a netsave and CS bond with them and they were showing up on my accounts page after a few hours of filling in the online form.

It's a good idea to have online access set up with them as they often announce competitive bonds and pull them quite quickly.

I suppose there lies the danger, flood a small, efficient building Society with our money when they make good offers, and they maybe won't cope, leading to slow service. Shh don't tell anyone else about them

Efficient, yes - but small? Coventry BS had 4th largest assets out of 59 on latest published [2007] figures. ;)

I am not sure but they do use HSBC for clearing.

BTW the 2 year bond has closed and the 1 year bond has gone down last time I checked. Though Birmingham Midshires have a 3.50% internet bond which is more difficult to open.

They accept faster payments but do not send faster payments.
  • Payments out of my Cov 1st takes 2 days to reach destination.

Payments out of my Nat Flexaccount take 3 days.

As I understand it, although they don't clear straight away, payts into Cov accounts earn interest from day 1.
