how come that didn't come up in your daily - how much have you spent today thread?!! :)

Its not just me who's tempted to bend the truth in those threads then! For a few weeks I avoided posting when I'd spent on something I could have avoided buying. I finally felt comfortable that people on here are supportive, not judgemental , and decided to tell the truth! It keeps me on track with spending and I can get tips from others on how to get better deals. Then the other day I got told off (not in a very nice way) for buying a sandwich! Long story, not gonna justify it all over again, but I felt disheartened by that. I mean, a sandwich, not some car mats :rotfl: , no offence meant ;) .

Sorry, rant over, just needed to get that out of my system!!

I stood for five minutes yesterday in Tesco debating the 6g bay leaves at 84p over 10g at 86p. I thought "stuff it, we'll use it eventually" and bought the bigger packet, only to realise when I got home I was so obsessed with the price labels I'd not noticed the label on the 86p pack said in big letters BASIL. So I've had to go out today and get a pack of bay leaves too (at the local shop, 95p)

Not exactly the biggest overspend of my life, but definitely the worst bit of moneysaving I've done in a while (still, the white chocolate and cardamom mousse will be much nicer with bayleaf smell than basil :silenced: )

OH better appreciate his posh tea tonight :kisses2: (I REALLY wanted to use one of those today!)

Thank you fairylights - your message made me & the OH laugh really loudly!!! :rotfl:

After my lightbulb moment i bought a top, jacket and bag to go shopping in london (£52). The shopping trip was for bridesmaid dresses for my sisters wedding - we got a 5% discount in Selfridges because my mum asked for a discount as we were buying three dresses :T .

The next time i did my laundry i realised i had an almost identical top already and the bag was complete extravagance as i have loads of similar ones already. The jacket is great and i will wear it often but i did find a nicer one for less money  . Did i take the stuff back to the shop? Nope.

Thats my confession, the overspends pre-lightbulb are much worse!

I have been grocery shopping 3 Sats in a row. Wk 1 £225, Wk 2 125, Wk 3 135. Feeding 2 + 2 (and the kids eat at their Nan's during the week) plus midweek top-ups of circa £40. Will someone please stop me NOW

I have been good this month but last month I bought 2 £60 dresses from Karen Millen.

The way I justified it to myself was that they should be at least double that and I can save them for when I need to look stunning (i.e posh do)

I was nearly sick when I thought of the £120 spent but try not to worry about it now.
