    Hi,

I'm going for the 'Car Mats' mantra when I go shopping!! LOL!!!

I spent 49.99 on a Dolls house for my kid and he is a boy.... It was for me really, but do I play with it?? No. Where is it? In my sons room. Do friends and family laugh? Oh yes they do. But they laugh harder when they find out its mine. I'm 31.
  • Pre lightbulb moment, I once spent about two hours standing in John Lewis stroking cushions and trying to persuade myself out of spending EIGHTY FIVE POUNDS on four scatter cushions.

I mean, seriously. I don't even care about cushions that much!

When i walked out of the shop (putting them down first of course!) i had the whole cold sweat fear thing about how close i'd come to completely wasting my money.

Does anyone else get that? Like when you've bid for something on ebay and then you feel this huge relief that you didn't win it?

Out of interest went to matalan and picked up some perfectly good cushions for about a tenth of the price, and felt SO much better!

    Dec 2005 £8,500

    April 2007 £0

Paid Off Since Lightbulb Moment £8,500

Debt Free Date: APRIL 16 2007

  • I blew £18 on new socks at matalan the other week ( pringles coz they last longer than budget offerings )
then popped next door to Staples and paid an extortionate £4.99 on a 4 ring binder ! ( so my paperwork is all neat and tidy for the OR when he needs it )

oh, and I literally threw away £6 in one go on euro-lottery tickets in the desperate hope I'd get SOMETHING...... well, I did'nt .... i had ONE number .

There..... thats off my chest, I feel slightly better :grinheart
 single forever, not looking. Don't drink, don't smoke. Oh what a Happy Bunny !!!

    Hi Messy!
What a good idea, I will try that some time. I do something like it with ebay, put things in my watching section, leave it 24 hours and decide I don't really want them that much.

I've got it, I've got it, my confession!!

A few years ago my partner and I got into collecting those ty beanie babies. Well, I had a few, she went crazy and bought loads and I joined in!! Have never confessed before, can't believe i didn't think of it. Am currently in the process of selling them all back but won't get anywhere near the £300 in total I spent on them

Please don't laugh too hard, I am genuinely embarrassed but then I guess everyone has made mistakes. I wasn't in a money saving frame of mind at that time, no excuse but there you go. Have a look at my post here, not going to say it all again!!

    Take care everyone :)

Hi Thanks for that link. :smileyhea

Reading about the beanies has just given me my confession. :grinheart :o

    Dragons, :o:o
Not happy with the ones from serendipity though.
    Royal Doulton no less.

Looking around my living room have £500 worth for 4 ornaments!!!!!!

Justified one to myself (at the time) by getting it for £125 and that was half price from flea bay.

Its a collectable only 950 world wide etc.....

But then I went and broke the b****y thing.

Glued it togeather but now worthless to a collector because the glue will degrade and discolour.

    Messy.

Southernscouser, I think about you and the car mats every now and again! If I think of buying something expensive that I totally don't need I instantly think, "its like the car mats!" and that gets me laughing and then I realise I don't want whatever it was after all! So thank you :)

OMG I thought it was just me that has these moments LOL

My confession would be not buying food! I am only in debt due to helping out a "friend" and I am so incensed by the whole situation that my daughters and I (!) are reduced to living on not much more than bread and jam whilst I try to get straight again.

Still laugh about SS's car mats though....guaranteed to bring a smile to my face. :grinheart
