This 5 quid offer is also on Pay Monthly I think.
What is the quality like? Simply-Fone is excellent but it doesnt work on weekends and I tried a few of the others before and the line was really bad.

Is it possible to ring other countries on this? My husband has relatives all over the globe-could be a pleasant surprise.

We have an unregistered Orange PAYG Sim-will that do, or do we have to buy a new one?

Its quality is comparatively good

You can use any orange PAYG sim, buy an extra by ringing 450 and talk unlimited on the purchased weekend.

You can check bestminutes.co.uk or any other company, it works for all countries access number 0844

So how does this work.

1) Get Oranage PAYG SIm-get it registerd and top up with £5 before w/e starts

2) Ring Best Minutes (0844 no - followed by the international number)

So far so good-I understand.

BUT, if I have £5 credit, wont that be finished after xx minutes? How does it meanfree w/e calls.

Sorry for sounding a bit thick!

Topup by £5(You don't need to topup if you already have more than £5 Balance), ring 450 to buy WEEKEND UNLIMITED EXTRA(It give you unlimited calls
to Orange phones and landlines from 7pm Friday to 7am Monday) , wait for weekend, then ring 0844 number, which is charged at standared rate, dial Pakistan and spend your weekend.

disclaimer: I have not use this service but reading the site etc can see how it works.

The way it works is you pay £5 for weekend, £10 for evening or £15 anytime. This is per week, not per month. Now you ring the 0844 access number,(and lets assume it is inclusive) during the weekend if you chose the £5 a week weekend package deal. Once it answer you dial the number to Russia, Pakistan, Thailand, etc "BUT DO NOT PRESS SEND AGAIN". Now the result is the international call is being routed through the 0844 access number. Now since the deal is unlimited, as long as you do the call between Midnight Friday and midnight Sunday there will be no xx minutes, or credit to worry about. Just the inital £5 to buy the extra pack.

Now assuming you call Pakistan, you have to make over 100 minutes during the pack cycle to break even, if you call Thailand you will need to call over 500 minutes during the pack cycle to break even, (assuming doing this to save cost instead of using a landline.)

Would I be correct in saying that the 0844 numbers count as a landline with the Unlimited Calling Packages available from Orange, and if this is the case then you could use a compnay like http://www.discountdial.co.uk 0844 number to call mobiles on other networks within the UK???
