I've written Citi two online messages which (despite their 'you will receive a response in 24 hours') they have so far ignored. I also sent a letter recorded delivery (which may or may have got through - the Royal Mail don't know where it is, so much for 'recorded'...) to enquire if I'd be eligible for the cashback.
I'm reluctant to spend using the account until I get their confirmation I'll get the cashback, despite Andreg's success. Would be very interested to hear updates from other posters in the same boat, cheers.0 -
I applied late I think (not too sure) but the account statement arrived and the account was opened on 04Mar09 and i spent EURO 80 on it in France and they have credited a " EGG CROSS SELL INCENTIVE CREDIT" of EURO 50. Excellent, well done Citibank, I thought I wouldn't get it and this was a nice surprise.Life is one long project0

Free Cash Loophole Egg Card & CitiBank Foreign Currency Account
Could someone help with a way to spend 50 Euros (or dollars) before April 15 to qualify for the free cash, without having to buy something in euros or dollars or use the citicard abroad?
Is there a way by going into a UK Citibank branch and depositing or withdrawing euros over the counter, or another way by using paypal without incurring cross border charges?
I also don't want to get caught with exchange rate charges etc., especially as Citibank might not pay the 50 euros?0 -
I have opened a Euro account in the specified time and received a debit card.
Do I use the egg credit card aboad or the Euro debit card ?
If i use the egg credit card do i need to have it linked to the Euro debit card ?
Can someone please advise on this .
Thank you0 -
you use the citibank euro card (not the EGG credit card) to get this offer.
I have a question of my own, how do I transfer the EURO's left over out of the CITIBANK card and into a UK bank account? Do I need to open a Citibank GBP account now?Life is one long project0 -

Yeah. They told me that you can only transfer out of the Euro a/c to another Citibank current account. They did set up a GBP a/c for me pretty quickly though.0 -

@ Bougainvillea - see post 17. Michaels linked his citibank debit card to his paypal account & sent the qualifying amount to an acquaintance.0 -
1) I did this offer last year for 100 usd = I paid my partner 100USD on paypal, waited for the account credit from citibank and then refunded the paypal transaction - paypal do not charge you any fees for this so 100 USD all intact.
Sorry to be a thicko but how do you add the Citibank account to Paypal? Paypal says only £ accounts can be added.
Also is getting funds into the Citibank account just a question of a BACS transfer from a £ account with another bank?
Thanks..0 -
With the cut of date being very soon and assuming able to visit a London branch, would the cashback work if 50 euros were paid into the euro account by transfer from the citibank sterling account and then withdrawn as euros over the counter in a London branch? If no time to make bacs payments into sterling account, could 50 euros be paid in over the counter in the morning and then withdrawn in the afternoon?
Re paypal - re previous posts with citibank card - does this only work with dollars or does paypal accept euro payments in the same way?0
