We've been round the houses trying to find the info specifically on this for the last two days. Officially we've been told cardholders were sent the email, and it only applies to them, but we've seen some literature saying egg customers. However just in case we have gone with the more conservative interpretation.

Hmm - the missus has an egg money card, as an secondary (additional) cardholder on my account. Wonder if she is eligible.

    Hi folks

After a fun morning on the phone, i have added this into the OP :)

Important Update 11.24 Wed 25 Feb.
Some people below reported that there may be problems getting this account open in time. We've re-checked this with Egg/Citbank and its confirmed that, as long as the postal part of your application reaches it by 27 February, then you will be eligible for the free cash offer. Thanks for the feedback though - it's best we're kept on our toes!

Does that mean there isn't enough time to start a new application now if they say the documentation required to send back takes 3-5 working days to arrive at your home address? Or can a branch application be done instantly and get around this?

You need to select the Print & Post option.

That way you will print the application at home (rather than have them print it & post it to you), sign it and send it to them. So long as they receive this in the post by the stated date you should be ok (regardless of any processing time they may have).

  • Just filled out the application and posted, not sure how Citi will know that the application has come from an Egg customer as the links seem pretty generic post eggs "apply now" button. (Hopefully Citi will be smart enough!!!)

I made sure to mention in the 'referral code' box something along the lines of 'EGG - Get $75 back' so that it was in writing at the point of application.

NB If you're rushing out to send your app 'signed for' (as I just did) make sure your post office doesn't half-day close at 1pm.

    (I arrived at 1.02  )
  • which current account do i select for - is it the foreign currency current account? thanks

i wanted a euro account to keep euros in while gbp drops and then convert bck, wud this account work

    Bit late for this now!

I've had this Citi $ and € account for years and it has saved me a packet. Their customer services is pants (almost on a par with Abbey), but I keep this account open solely for the cheaper foreign exchange, even though it costs me £10 a month (you do get free ww annual travel insurance for you and you spouse, and mobile phone insurance for this though). If you're changing around £1000 into foreign currency you'll normally save around £20 on exchange rates.
  • Can anyone explain the quickest way to get the money in and out this euro account without suffering any conversion charges etc

I can't see anything to say that this isn't valid for an existing Citibank customer with an Egg card (i.e., me). Does any one know if I'd qualify for this promotion?
