I applied and they sent out the documents for signing on 26th Feb. I contacted them via the secure online messages and was told that my account had been opened on 4th March (obviously when the documents were returned). I've sent another message to say that I applied during the offer, have a letter confirming provisional acceptance of my application dated during the offer and that I shouldn't miss out because of delays in their account opening process. Will see what happens.
Ultimately I'll close the account if they won't give me the offer and they will have lost me as a customer now and in the future.

well what a surprise. Emailed many days ago for a confirmation on the offer and they have flatly ignored me. Will send another today so see what happens.0

I've sent off my application with orginal documents on 25th Februray 2009 via recordered delivery in the hope to take advantage of the EUR 50 incentive.
I've the received the following dull letter from Citibank in the first place26 February 2009
Dear Mr LemonTree,
Thank you for your recent application for a Citibank product.
We have started to process your application and will be in contact shortly if we need any more information and/or documentation to open the product. If we don't need any more information we will open your product as quickly as possible so you can start to take advantage of being a Citibank customer.
If you have provided us with original copies of your personal documents, these are now returned to you with this letter.
If you have any questions about your applications at any time, please call us on 0800 00 88 00.
We look forward to welcoming you as a Citibank customer.
Yours Sincerely,
Account Opening Team
They had all my documents by 26 February 2009. But they claimed my account was opened on 2 March 2009.
I will try it any way and if they are not giving me the incentive I'll make an appeal. It took me already too much time with this whole application process that it doesn't matter really much to make an appeal.0 -
I've got my 50Euro cashback now, but I had to ask for it. A few days after I spent the money I wrote Citibank an online message, and they credited the account within about 24 hours.
I think the cheapest way to load the account with Euros or Dollars in the first place is to buy Euros in cash from the cheapest source (using Martin's excellent tool to find the cheapest FX), then deposit the cash into the account at a branch.0 -
any idea what i can buy in order for 50 euros to be charged to my account as i dont plan going to europe before the 15 april deadline?0

Unfortuantly i dont stay anywhere near a citibank branch
Any other ideas?
I opened a US Dollar account and a euro account
I have already received the US dollar incentive
Does anyone know if i can also qualify for the euro one in addtion to this?0 -

Buy something from Play.com and switch totals from £ to Euros.
Worked for me and have received the €500 -
Received my card today and phoned CS to check that the $75 refund would apply, hopeless really.
Firstly they hadn't a clue about the offer and secondly they said it was an account opened in £ and not $ or E?
Anyone else have this problem, does it definitely state that it is a $ or E account when you open it?0 -

I think that's the crucial point: does citibank pay the incentive to customers who applied for the account before 27th February 2009 but have the accounts opened after that date (due to Citibank slow opening processing).0
