My Berghaus walking boots fell apart last year after ten years! I had particularly done a lot of hill walking over the last year, but wore them throughout for long walks. I am very sad as they also looked good (a rarity for walking boots imo) and were comfy from the start, and I can't find anything quite like them. It was helpful to read these posts as I went to Sports Direct today to have a look, and typically of outlet stores there are so many temptations for labels which you know as quality at cheap prices, and it never feels quite right. They didn't have the karrimor boots in stock there anyway. I ended up buying a kangol handbag:D and then going next door to Calvin Klein outlet. I have to write to the manager as I got overcharged by £10 plus the young woman on the till didn't input it correctly so my PIN no. was printed out instead of the price! I thought four figures was a bit much for a bra and some pyjamas. It all got me thinking about the psychology and even trustworthiness of these outlet places, and realising I still am probably a bit irresponsible with the credit card, but I tend to buy more things in these shops because i think i am getting quality at a cheap price, but maybe that's not always the case.

It's your choice, however I think that a 3 year old would be better wearing proper fitted shoes - that's what my mother did and I have done for my kids.

Is it possible to get proper fittings for walking boots for very small kids? Have had real trouble locating any at all in my daughter's size (small 7) so bought her some of these from Sports Direct and they seem ok. But would far rather she had a proper fitting - anybody know of any good stockists for walking boots this small?
  • In December 2006 it was revealed that Sports Direct has built a 29.4% stake in Blacks Leisure Group, the owner of Millets and Mambo.

Well, got mine and although I cant admit to having tested them yet (other than in my lounge), they look and feel very good.

I'm pretty pleased with my freebie 1pint mug too!!!!

Yep, I wouldn’t buy these ever again.

I bought a pair of karrimor eVent boots from Millets about 4 years ago. Last year I spotted these karrimors from sports world and quickly snapped up a pair. The quality difference is unbelievable when the pair are side by side even the labels look cheaper. Needless to say they only lasted me 3 months before I binned them, where as my original karrimors are still going strong with constant use. Even Lidls boots seem better quality. Just the other week I was in sports world and the current stock is no better.

Why would they make these substandard shoes/boots when they have such a good reputation?

I seen this was on the weekly email, and thought how many people are now going to buy these cheap and nasty shoes. This should never have been put on the email.

    DON’T BUY THESE SHOES/BOOTS

Try it yourself, go into millets or blacks and try a pair of proper karrimors, then go to sports world and see which ones you would rather buy

I'll second this opinion from my own direct experience. Two pairs (stupid of me I know) from Sports World, each lasting less than a year. Not a third time though. Sports World quaility is lower.

The ones we have were purchased just after xmas 08 and are Karrimor Mount Mid Weathertite and both pairs have been tested on hill walks, snow walks etc and are in great condition and are so comfortable. They are water proof so far and our feets feel secure in them.

Bought a pair of Karrimor boots from Sports Direct reduced from £129 to £38, well impressed as they fitted like a glove. Going back for another pair. Thanks OP.
    :hello:
  • Some of the boots sold at Sports Direct are made specifically for them, so they may be of slightly cheaper quality. However the ones mentioned in the opening post, were not made specifically for these stores as they have a different manufacturing code. So the quality of these should be a lot better.

I managed to miss this cracking Grabbit, so if you did too. MandMDirect have these for £43.03 P&P inc (5% Quidco @ MandMDirect)

Although nowhere near as good as the OP, probably a better buy than some of the SportsDirect stock thats left.
