  • Excellent post - and thanks to OP.

Just a word of warning - don't mix these up with the Aspen eVent ones (the eVent ones have a gore-tex like lining making them super-waterproof).

Still a good buy though, worth it for the Vibram sole.
  • We have these and they are so comfy and have put up with a lot so far, and they look as good a new still. Well worth the money.

did you buy them from sortsdirect? are they the same boots advertised on this forum?
  • Some Brashers here for £59 if you want some boots that will last.

  • Yep, I wouldn’t buy these ever again.

I bought a pair of karrimor eVent boots from Millets about 4 years ago. Last year I spotted these karrimors from sports world and quickly snapped up a pair. The quality difference is unbelievable when the pair are side by side even the labels look cheaper. Needless to say they only lasted me 3 months before I binned them, where as my original karrimors are still going strong with constant use. Even Lidls boots seem better quality. Just the other week I was in sports world and the current stock is no better.

Why would they make these substandard shoes/boots when they have such a good reputation?

I seen this was on the weekly email, and thought how many people are now going to buy these cheap and nasty shoes. This should never have been put on the email.

    DON’T BUY THESE SHOES/BOOTS

Try it yourself, go into millets or blacks and try a pair of proper karrimors, then go to sports world and see which ones you would rather buy

There were suspicions that the Karrimor stock in Sports Direct was of a lower quality. I did buy a pair of 'cheap' under £30 Karrimor boots at Sports Direct. They were ill fitting and poorly made in comparison to previous purchases.
There was a quote a while back on another website:

The link worked yesterday so they must have run out online. Your only chance looks like being in store.

I saw a pair of Karrimor Event boots in TK Maxx yesterday for £55 (supposedly from £120). I agree that the quality difference between them and the ones in Sports Direct seemed huge. The outer material seemed to be soft and supple whereas the Sports Direct ones were more rigid and the material cheaper looking. I used to buy a lot of Karrimor stuff as we had an outlet nearby but now I am not sure about whether they still make any decent stuff or not.... so didn't really consider the TK Maxx ones.

I have heard even Brasher have gone a similar way. A friend used to swear by them but the last pair she had wore out in no time. Similarly I have read reviews of some Berghaus boots that I was interested in... they wore out quickly too.... so I am still left with my old boots waiting for something decent to turn up cheap.

Re the comments on the quality of the shoes, I have had the same feeling with regard to shoes by Clarks. Whilst I am sad to now know I was right, I'm glad I wasn't imagining it.

Couldn't find the shoes online and I'm too lazy to hunt for them. Another time.
