    If it were that easy........
    Have you tired it?
A few guys here are making OBD2 readers for their cars and grabbing the software from the internet.

Personally, I have my cars hooked up to a computer for datalogging etc but they aint modern cars.
And - if you are forced to go to main dealer for servicing to keep your car under warranty conditions, you are ok with that too? You'd be happy to pay their prices? Which no doubt will go up..... even more.... Or does Ebay have an answer for that to?

I'm not daft enough to fall for the dealer con.
I'll pick up a car once it's been used for a few years and you've wasted your money on depreciation.;)

Lets hope folk aren't forced into any kind of con...

Its all about trying to keep costs down. Guys here have just invested quite a large sum in diagnostic equipment via the States. Have to keep up!

It's almost as if there were no independants before 2003!

Yes, I'd like to see the block exemption extended, but the sky isn't about to fall on our heads. As with housesitter, I'll continue to run second hand cars and continue with a combination of DIY, local guy that I trust (when motivation is lacking), or a recognised specialist (when knowledge is lacking)

No, the sky's not fallen yet....
