Guys! (I use the term loosely...)
Have you any idea of the cost of buying new diagnostic equipment and updating it?? It runs to thousands of pounds... I know - cos I see the invoices. But we accept it and get on with it. What is objectionable, is that info will not or could not be available in the future.
What is unacceptable, is that consumers will have no choice as to where they go for certain jobs etc, be it warranty or servicing under warranty and various 'tech' stuff, that main dealers only will have privvy to.
Think we should try and make an effort somehow to not let the Block Exemption fade away next year and allow the monopoly to take over again.
If we can do that - I'll sleep with all of you......except Goldie

The pen is mightier than the sword, and considerably easier to write with.

And - if you are forced to go to main dealer for servicing to keep your car under warranty conditions, you are ok with that too? You'd be happy to pay their prices? Which no doubt will go up..... even more.... Or does Ebay have an answer for that to?
You have to look at the whole picture. Diagnostic equipment and the technical information could be legally witheld. I'm not happy about that.Genie

I quite agree! I drive a Saab, which I love, but I have this very same problem. I have two places where I will go to get work done if need be. One is Saab themselves, and the other is a local independent specialist. The latter is generally about half the price of Saab and is my preferred service centre, but it's a small business and he can't do any of my electrical work as he can't afford the required updated software.
And they recommend writing to MP and MEP too.
I'm a grumpy old woman these days, I am sick of everyone moaning yet not doing anything about anything. What is it with the Brits that we sit back and go 'ok' or 'yeah alright' - whenever the government or whoever decides that they are going to up our tax, rates, or whatever..... Its getting beyond a joke.
And now, they again, are going to take more choices from us again. No doubt we'll all sit back and grumble under our breaths rather than do anything!!
And then you get idiots that say - go to ebay........ ?? And that will sort it all out no doubt.        :mad:Genie
