'alf Alf -like it!
Observation on dialects (look something vaguely cranial to tempt back the ladies). Both extreme Yorshire and extreme London dialects abuse the past tense of "is".
In Yorks, "was" is not liked, so it's "I were", "he were", "she were" Deirdre !
in London it's "were" that goes AWOL with "we was", "you was" and "they was" Ricky !0 -

I think I must just be plain think, I'm, really struggling with is it one word or two word thing, them instead of those and me instead of my.
I think the me/my one is down to comic phrasing I think "I'll just my coat" hasn't got the same comic impact as "I'll get me coat"In memory of Chris Hyde #8670 -

Them and those bloody hard - have to lure the Olive back for that one.
"Me" and "my" straighfoward enough - "my" must always be used for possession, e.g. it's my coat. I love my OH. "me" has nothing to do with possession, it indicates you as an object to some action, so: Give it to me. Take me from behind etc.0
