How I wish you'd have been my English teacher, with such vivid examples I would have achieved far more.Them and those bloody hard - have to lure the Olive back for that one.
"Me" and "my" straighfoward enough - "my" must always be used for possession, e.g. it's my coat. I love my OH. "me" has nothing to do with possession, it indicates you as an object to some action, so: Give it to me. Take me from behind etc.
I understand the me or my thing it's just in this area we do tend to use me instead of my. Not so much a dialect issue more simple ignorance and laziness.

Yeah "me" is a real lazy Brummy thing too, and of course Coventry dialect is a bit that way-inclined.....0 -

Heavens knows how my lads did so well. They were both good at science and maths. Perhaps my ex had a bit of alfresco whilst I was on nights.

I always had my suspicions about the devastingly handsome nuclear physicist who lodged with us for five years. She felt he "did enough in the house" to pay for his keep. I thought he was bone idle always looked completely knackered to me.

Trust me I've known some bloody good mathematicians/scientists/computer bods with darn awful spelling & grammar....
Strange that "grammar logic" and "maths logic" don't seem to be in the same part of the brain ....:D
But I have probably just wasted my typing as you're about to tell me their spelling & grammer is 100% :rotfl:0 -
