I did try them and I put them into my Sc with about half a cup of water and some chopped onion and SC them until all the meat fell off the bones.Strained the stock and used for soup base and the chicken I used in curries and also to make Coronation Chicken with for sarnies I think they are fine ,as stated, not as tasty perhaps as free range cluckers but they fill an empty tum, and don't break the bank if you want a mid week not-too-expensive meal I too have found sainsbobs really good although I'm not too sure if you can tell much differance once they are curried0

Thanks for the replies, will defrost some tonight and see how I get on. I don't buy free range chicken anyway (far too expensive) so I don't suppose they will taste too bad to us0

I get them and do the lot in the slowcooker then freeze for curries and stir-frys, they're Ok.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

I normally shove a pack of these in the oven on a sunday when doing a roast joint. These then get stripped for the cats (we have 6) - saves giving them the more expensive meat, lasts a good few days and the bones are great for stock.

If you do fancy trying free range, Aldi do a decent sized one for about £5.0 -
Please can someone tell me how to do a chicken casserole with these please, and how to get the darn skin off (!) it's one of those meals I just can't get right.

Hahahaha, Farway!! I use them for the dogs in an emergency, so always try and keep a bag in. When they defrost, it seems to me they have come from the very skinniest chickens, because there's far more bone than meat. Truly the Kate Moss of the Avian world :rotfl:0

I buy these from Sainsbugs too. Chuck the whole pack into the pressure cooker and it takes 8 mins - remove skins when serving. I wouldn't pay for a free range chicken, can't afford it.0

Do you defrost first? Thanks for reply, we eat a lot of chicken in this house and free range is just so expensive. It's not that we can't afford it it's just that I refuse to pay so much for food when a regular chicken costs half the price0
