    thanks but no thanks - £20 for a secondhand drive- your taking the mick especially on a thread for a £25 drive new!!!!! I thought you were offering it CHEAP! ordered the sony instead

    Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD because a compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer.

    im on windows xp and using media player 10, can anyone in nice and easy terms tell me what to download and were from and what to do with it, thanks wee georgie

    Micorsoft do NOT include DVD playback software with XP, so you need to install a DVD player program. Media player will use the codec in the installed software for playback.

    I used VLC player which is free: GPL, I think it plays VOBs out of the box. Any program like power DVD etc will also do.

    This is not a fault with your drive or your computer. Remember you can only set the region code for your drive a few times, it is usually 3 times on Sony's after this the drive is locked in to that region.

    ofcourse I am taking the mick... didn't think there be someone who would buy it, but then again, sold it to someone through the gumtree... yes, for GBP 20.00!

    I concur with Roger having tried it in W98se before fitting it to an XP machine.
    All Dell'd up ;) several times over :)

    Whats peoples views so far on this drive, personally I think its rubbish.

    Quite often fails to see discs, I have no such problems with a Panasonic drive I fitted to another machine
  • I bought this DVD Writer and have had problems installing it, now I need to update the drivers as it cannot recognise discs....so can anyone hlep me track down the correct drivers so I can get the tinker working
