Sure this supports RAM? I know the site says so but Sony dont usually support it and other Sony drives dont seem to show as supporting on other sites.

    Anyone know for sure
  • Hi,

I can comfirm that this is the very latest Sony drive, the first Sony to support Ram.

So in answer to your question the one for sale on Lowest does yes!

    Katie!
  • Thanks. Just ordered one.

Thanks Katie, I noticed it said new but Sony dont seem to have it on their own webiste. I know the drive has been kicking about Oz for a bit and they claim it supported RAM but I was worried the UK version might not.

    Hopefully find out soon
  • We have tested it on our software and is does indeed support RAM.
As you say it is new, so hopefully Sony will add it soon.

me too...! (if you google it, you get a load of Aussie sites... must have been released there before being in Europe - all state DVD-RAM support!)

anyone wants my LG GSA-4163B Super-Multi DVD±RW/RAM Writer..?! (pm me!)
  • I could be totally wrong here but I seem to remember a bloke at work whose Dad bought a Sony DVD writer because it was a 'name' and subsequently found it to be a rebadged LiteOn. Nothing wrong in that of course but he paid more for the Sony than he would of for a LiteOn. Not the issue here as this drive is at a fantastic price!

    Cheers,

  • Sorry to be thick, but is this a DVD-RW drive I could install in my Dell computer? If so, how easy is it to install?

Ive got a Dell 5150, I put my old lite on CDRW in, just connected the power cable and ide and that was it, nothing else needed, so you should be fine with this, the main DVD Rom drive in my Dell is also Sony
