Sony DVDRW+RAM-Black-£25 Free P+P

Have bought one of the Sony drives and put in a Dell desktop with XP home, the machine only recognises as a CD rom, any body know where I can get drivers for this ?? or some other way to sort out (it is fitted as slave to a DVD rom CD RW combi)

Open my computer/right click/properties/recording/uncheck cd recording with this drive.
reboot.

Cheers, that is a cracking deal, especially given the issues some others are reporting with the Sony and as SVP are doing 99p shipping at the moment.

The SVP ND-4551 is one of the few which actually comes with the special version of Nero Express 6 with the Labelflash support, and they are doing all 3 colours - beige, silver and black.

Just got mine this morning. I have been very pleased with my old ND-3500 but now want DVD RAM.

how does this labelflash work, can it bascially print a picture on the disc from a jpeg?

Surely not that advanced

Not used it myself but actually yes that's pretty much what it's meant to do... it just burns a disc in all the right places so that you see an image. Can do it (AFAIK) on both the data and label sides.

Cool - but only of use on the data side if you've not written much onto the CD else the space is needed for data itself.

As the drive is only recognised as a CD ROM it does not show the recording tab at all, I had checked this last night from one of the earlier posts.

I seem to remember mine didnt at first either, I think once I had put a RAM disc in and formatted it the recording tab then appears-was already unticked anyway on mine (using xp pro)

Received the Sony drive this morning. In Explorer, DVDs are only recognised when the Transfer Mode is set to PIO Only, (Device Manager/IDE ATA ATAPI controllers/Secondary IDE Channel/Advanced Settings). However, I can still write to DVDs using Nero when the Transfer Mode is Ultra DMA Mode 4.
