Are you watching an HD channel?
Do you have an HD TV?
If so, how is it connected?0 -
The man did it, lol. Yup hdmi is connected, just no difference perceivable to the naked eye.0

music to my ears, because we said that and no one would belive us. I cancelled ours as soon as the 12 month contract was up. Still have the box and the sky plus.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I watch a lot of sport and I have to disagree... there is a world of difference, especially in the SKY golf coverage (and football).
The BBC coverage of the US Masters golf from Augusta last spring was stunning in HD.
I do admit that there is not such a great distinction when watching films or documentaries.0 -
What screen size do you have? I'm told that with less than 32in TV's, HD is not really noticeably different. Also is it 720p or 1080i res? Sky HD broadcasts are at 1080i, so if you only have 720p res you are not getting the full potential of the broadcast. (Standard def is 576 for comparison-so 720 HD is only a small step up).
PS: If you do have a 1080i HD TV, check that the Sky HD box is set to 1080 and not to the lower 720 res.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Some tvs are simply cr*p with hd content. It could be that its NOT setup correctly (Some of these 'engineers' dont have a clue). It could be your watching through the aerial connection instead of hdmi etc etc
Whats the make and model of tv you have?:idea:0 -

Whats youve said there is junk. 1080i gives a 'flicker' effect and I could prove beyond a shadow of doubt that 720P can give an amazing picture if you were to come and see my tv. Im also under the belief that sky broadcasts can be either depending on whats being shown?
Its dependent on quite a few things (Type of tv etc). But generally speaking a 720P pic will look better than a 1080i one.:idea:0 -
either you have serious cateracts and haven't noticed, or you're doing one of the following:
1: watching a non-hd channel through your sky HD box (for instance, channel 4).
2: you're watching sky sports HD during the after match analysis, or watching an 'unimportant' game -- these are shown in upscaled SD, so arent actually HD quality.
3: you're watching a different HD channel that's showing an upscaled SD picture.
4: you're still watching a CRT box which is connected to a packet of cornflakes and ownership of sky HD is just a fevered hallucination.
For a quick comparison, go to channel 104, see the quality, then go to channel 143 (bbc HD).0 -
"But generally speaking a 720P pic will look better than a 1080i one"
A 720p picture is better quality than a 1080i picture because it is progressive scan (every line the same) and not interlaced scan(every other line).
A 1080p picture is the best possible at the moment, then a 720p and then a 1080i.
If Sky HD can only output in 720p or 1080i it might be better to try using the 720p setup.0 -
have you actually subscribed to the HD channels??If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0
