Coat the fish in some flour and gently fry. Once cooked keep warm in oven while you saute some sliced onions and peppers or sliced Almonds. add some double cream to make a slightly thickened cream sauce. serve Haddock on a bed of rice smothered in the cream sauce. No Garlic I'm afraid, but it's absolutely delicious."A banker is a fellow who lends you his umbrella when the sun is shining, but wants it back the minute it begins to rain." Mark Twain0

Hi guys, thanks for all your ideas, i have printed them out so i can have a go at all of them. Tonight i put the haddock in some tin foil, salt and peppered it, loads of crushed garlic on top and herbs. Wrapped it up in the tin foil and bunged it in the oven for ten mins. Was amazing :j !! had it with just boiled potatoes and salad, oh and bread for all the yummy juice. I am so chuffed!!! I would have honestly paid for it in a restraunt :T . Away to add it to the recipie index. Novice cook so I am very pleased. Wish I made more as I dodn't want to stop eating it. I've got a piece of haddock
I never normally buy it
But as this piece was half the price
I thought I'd go ahead and buy it.
It weighs about a pound
And there's just us two
I'm trying to think of how to cook,
Should I poach or fry, or stew?
Should I serve it up with mash
Or a great big pile of rice
or batter it and serve with chips
It all sounds really nice.
The haddock at Mr. M's was half price so I thought i'd better get some, got 2 packs, one for today and one for the freezer.
I think I might poach it in milk and have a pile of mash and veg?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

i love that, with butter and peppercorns and dill and fish stock cube in the sauce, made thick with a bit of flour, and some cheese spread over with a few slices of tomatoes, take it opur of the sauce before it falls apart, bake it in the oven till the chesse melts then use the rest of the suce to pour over and as the liquid for the mashed potatoes.

Oh yessiree! :T
I kinda like that a lot.
I haven't got a fish stock cube but I think it'll be good anyway .
I just messed up my post, I wrote a load of stuff and pressed send but hadn't finished, now I can't remember it all
Cheesy mash fish and tomato slices on top sounds lovely.
Or should I do Med style, with tomatoes, onions and herbs?

It would make a yummy mediterranean soup - make a well-flavoured garlicy soup with tomatoes, onion, celery, maybe fennel as well, and put the fish in at the end. Serve with crusty bread or toss some croutons on top. You'd get two days out of your piece of haddock!Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600Overpayments to date: £3000June grocery challenge: 400/6000
