Egg Card - The Most Audacious Scam Ever?

@Milarky
Did you pay via you Egg savings account or external accounts like the Nationwide. My take on this situation is that the management of Egg do not have a clue as to how fast things can happen in an evolving payment system. Many transfers are next day and others take five. Have they just adopted the worst case scenario as the norm for their terms ? Good luck with the £5 and the DD that may or may not be messed with.

I've been reading this thread with interest!
My anniversary offer runs out tomorrow 28 Feb and I start paying interest from 1st March (I confirmed this with egg). I made a debit card payment on Thursday 23rd Feb (can't remember what time!) for the full balance. My DD is set for minimum payment. The debit card payment did not leave my current account until yesterday, Monday 27th Feb. If I have to wait a further 3-4 days for clearance I'm stuffed as I forgot theres only 28 days in Feb!!!Saving money is fun :A0 -
I recently left Egg for the very same reason.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 0650

I have two similar threads regarding their interest calculation and I just recognized a reply, which was word for word the same as I received last week by another advisor.Dagobert0 -
@Bluesnice I may have to upset you in saying that the 28th of Feb is today!
We are all often caught out by February. Some years they change the number of days in the month too.

Yes, I would also tell people to avoid or cancel them asap - I haven't been done by the issue you have, but they are completely incompetent.
I applied for the card as a BT vehicle and they got the interest free period wrong. I contacted them about this, initially got no response, which led to the balance incurring interest. Eventually they supposedly arranged to refund any interest accrued until the balance was paid off. They didn't do it.
I actually paid the balance in the hopes of exploiting the anniversary offer but didn't get chance to do so - but I still didn't get the interest back.
I'd written to them 3 times to get this sorted and had no response, so finally I wrote again, and to the Financial Ombudsman, telling them I wanted the interest refunded and compensation, and expressly did *not* want a credit on the card due to the zero balance. I happened to check the balance yesterday and whaddya know? They've credited the card at the end of January. Haven't told me that's what they've done - and no notification about the statement either. No response at all to my letter. Ignorant as well as incompetent.
This has been going on since June 2005.
Like I said, completely incompetent, non-existent customer service, and I'll be writing again.
They'll probalby come up with some claptrap about money-laundering regarding the credit to the card, so:
does anyone know if you can Balance transfer a positive balance from one credit card to another?
Thanks!0 -

Can I suggest that anyone else using Egg Savings to transfer money to an Egg card should post here immediately IF they experience any delay? (As an 'early warning' system for others, you understand!).....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0 -
My query:Quote from your FAQ pages: 'A transfer from an Egg Savings Account takes up to three or four working days to clear onto your Egg Card.'
1) Could, please, you clarify whether you mean working or calendar days.
...
3) Is the date which appears for a credit to Egg Money or Egg card the date on which the amount cleared onto the card?I can confirm that this means working days not calender days, and can take anywhere upto 4 working days, it may credit before this time however we offer this time scale as a maximum.
The following time scales apply in regards to your query:
Transaction before 2pm - next working day
Transaction after 2pm - 3rd working day
Date shown on Egg Card account will be same date as request. *
*Does that mean that the date shown on the card statement is not necessarily the date the payment cleared?Dagobert0
