I WONDER HOW YOU WOULD FEEL IF YOU HAD THOSE HORRIBLE CONDITIONS TO LIVE I BELIEVE YOU'RE A DISGRACE TO THE UK.POOR CHICKENS AND IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT FOR NOT GIVING A S**T. ALL YOU CARE ABOUT IS YOURSELF AND PEOPLE LIKE THAT I HATE IT TICKS ME OFF SO MUCH IM GONNA THROW THIS FRIKKIN COMPUTER THROUGH THE WINDOW IN PURE ANGER.I'D RATHER A CHICKEN HAVE A HAPPIER AND FREEDOMFUL LIFE AND ME HAVE LESS MONEY.WHY YOU ASK BECAUSE IM NOT A SELF CENTERED A** WIPE WHO CARES MORE FOR A FEW BL**DY METAL COINS THAN THE WELLFARE OF GOD'S CREATURES OOH IM STEAMIN' HERE:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: IF THIS IS WHAT MOST PEOPLE ARE LIKE WE LIVE IN A VERY,VERY SICK COMMUNITY:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: I KNOW IT'S MONEYSAVING BUT SOMETIMES SACRIFICE IS BETTER IN MY OPINION ANYWAY

My god, it is quite simple really, if you don`t want it dont bloody buy it, why when one of these threads are started, do we get the pc brigade in defending the chickens, as already said, nobody shouting when these chickens are on sale at the usual price of £4.97 so why shout now, this will be a loss leader, just to get people into there bloody stores, does not mean the chickens are treated any worse because they are £2 at the moment, it will be the supermarket taking the hit, not the farmer, funny though i am sure the title of this thread is chicken for £2 at asda, not how ethical would it be to buy the £2 chicken at asda, so why even bother coming into this thread:rolleyes:, Dave

Actually, the supermarkets don't take the hit, it is the farmers and the red tractor logo means f all.
  • Agreed. The retailer has the upper hand and with any of these promotions it's normally not the retailer who takes the hit.

I worked in the head office of a food retailer for many years and the farmers/suppliers can't afford to lose their business, so when the retailer wants to run a promotion the buyer just normally tells the supplier to come up with a better price else they will go elsewhere.

These farmers are normally small operations and they can't afford to lose supermarket business so they get totally screwed over.

Im 100% sure this is the case and it's a very sad state of offair's unfortunatly it's very hard as a consumer and someone on a tight budget to do anything else other than buy from the big supermarket chains.

Personally i buy 90% of my meat from a small butchers and all my veg comes from a farm shop but sadly im still forced to buy all tin/packets etc from the supermarkets and smaller shops are usually much more expensive and right now im trying my best to reign in my food spending as much as possible.

Personally i'd love to never had to shop in an asda or tesco's again, as personally im more concerned about the wellfair of the farmers and the farmers getting a fair deal than i am worried about the conditions the chickens are kept in.

So, you'll not be buying one of these then?

I think its pretty bloody obvious i wont.
  • I love this whole argument of oh the chickens was brought up poorly etc...

How do you think the bloody chicken feels when its sat next to your peas and carrots and covered in gravy!!

    How does the chicken feel??
  • Bought my chickens, and nobody will tell me what to buy,

but then again, i won't tell anyone what they should or shouldn't buy, but coming on here ranting and raving about the welfare of a chicken, won't change my mind,

it's been cooked and some has been made into sandwiches for lunch the rest is going towards tea.

And it tastes nice...................good buy for £2

right off to clean with my 20p stardrops, thanks asda, but no doubt someone will tell me i'm wrong for using chemicals to clean my house with...lol

There is no difference!!! A chicken is a chicken at the end of the day, they are all bred for the same reasons. Some people CANNOT afford to buy expensive chickens, simple, and even if they could why spend 3 x more for what is essentially a chicken  I wish these people would get over themselves, eat whatever you want and let the rest of us enjoy our pumped up, chemically filled chickens!

You get over yourself. I made a comment about the difference and choices people have, not once did i mock anyone for buying cheaper, yet you think its ok to make your point but arent prepared to let others that think different have their say, unless they agree with you.

Probably not very much unless you believe in Life After (Chicken) Death.

We're all going to die sooner or later - (stating the obvious :rotfl::rotfl:) - but that doesn't mean we don't want a good life whilst we are alive.
