  • Sure some people can't afford expensive meat but that doesn't mean cheap meat is the same.

Just like I can't afford to buy a Ferrari but I wouldn't claim a beat-up old Mini is the same thing.

Ahhh but if you could buy a Ferrari for the price of an old Mini you'd buy the Ferrari. And in my opinion, they do taste the same, I would even say that the cheapo chickens taste better with all that water added, not quite so dry.

Edited to add: I don't think that made much sense

Look, it comes down to personal choice. If you want to eat free range chickens then great, I'm sure the chickens are really happy that you've chosen them over their mates down the road.

:D That's very sweet of you and I do appreciate it - but my original point was that I wouldn't have bought the £4.49 one either.

The only way these retailers get chickens this cheap is by turning the screws on the farmers involved who end up injecting all sorts of rubbish into the birds to get them to a decent size which they wouldn't reach otherwise due to lack of sunshine and exercise.

Anyway - as you say it's personal choice and now I'm off to drive my 'ferrari' home.;)

this is a real eye opener,

I didnt actually realise that you could get different flavour of chicken.

Should really think about that the next time I buy a chicken.

Do you think they can tell what flavour the chicken will have by looking at the egg before it hatches?
