Give your hubby a kick up the !!!!! Will he boil pasta or put jacket spuds in the oven?
Could do some big batches of chilli and spag bol(with lots of veg/lentils to make it cheaper). Do you have a slow cooker? It's easy to throw chopped veg and meat in there for a stew.

i have its what can be frozen and still taste as good as fresh!

Hi, these very little that can't be frozen and then thats only mainly due to the water content and it going mushy when defrosted.

Say Luttuce and cucumber for instants.
Cheese I understand you grate it first, otherwise it goes crumbly. But thats not the case for things made with cheese this is fine.
Strawberries don't defrost very well, but you can purree them then use in smoothies or as a sauce for instance.

    Hi all,

After a long struggle to conceive, i am now over the moon to be 7 wks pregnant with my first baby. :j

Unfortunately, i am currently in the midst of morning sickness that lasts all day long! This morning the sight of a portion of chilli i had put in the fridge to defrost overnight sent me running to the bathroom. It is now in the bin. I cannot stand the sight of raw meat and as hungry as i am ( eating is the only thing to keep the sickness at bay), i have no appetite for anything. This makes meal planning difficult!

Today I really couldnt face the big supermarket and instead ended up spending £65 in M&S food (with virtually nothing to show for it)just cos it was easy and I could buy some things that should be thrown in the oven.

So what can I do? How did you all you ladies on here cope with food
prep when you were pregnant? Any ideas for overcoming this or simple meal ideas unlikely to induce the sickness?

P.S i should add, hubby is being a big help in the kitchen but OS is really not his style and i feel bad leaving t all to him.

    Thanks!

You're doing the pregnant bit so why shouldn't he do the shopping and cooking? Seems like a fair division of labour to me!

Seriously though, you'll carry on feeling sick for at least another 6-8 weeks, sorry to tell you, and your taste buds will probably be all over the place for the whole pregnancy. This is the time to start online grocery shopping and intriduce hubby to a couple of good cook books. However if all you want to eat are baked beans, crunchy top yoghurts and V-8 juice (that was me on my third pregnancy) then just go with the flow. I found things that didn't have a strong smell better than anything with a strong taste btw. My OH got used to it, on the principle that he wasn't pregnant and could always pour chilli sauce on anything that was too bland.

    Congratulations!!!!!!!!!! Well done you!
I agree with Val. Buy/ cook pretty bland stuff and let hubby sort himself out if he needs something more adventurous. You will find that some bland things will set you off too, just go with the flow. Everyone is different. I couldn't stand the smell of rice and couldn't even be in the same house as rice being cooked!!!!
Basically, you have to see what works for you, and remember, it's temporary.

I barely ate until my MS went away at 16 weeks. Honestly, just eat what you can when you can. I too couldn't bear raw meat and standing and making a meal from scratch was a huge no as even the smell of the oven turned me.

When I was able to eat I lived off sandwiches.
