If all you can manage is drinks, then even a chocolate milkshake from the corner shop is better than nothing. And you can have a sip when you feel like it, put the rest in the fridge and then go back to it later.
I was told I must eat full meals all the time in early pregnancy. Needless to say, I ended up severely anaemic (Hb 5.2) and couldn't bring myself to eat boiled potatoes, mince or vegetable grills for years afterwards.
Actually, vegetable grills still make me want to puke. And the child that did that is 19 next month.
I was prescribed an antiemetic the second time round.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Oh I do feel for you OP. I am due last week (!) and I had a horrible time with ms. I too couldn't stand the sight of raw meat and could only stomach cooked lamb or mince. I went off steak and chicken and only started eating chicken in the third trimester. Haven't touched steak since an unsuccessful try earlier in pregnancy. I also went off vegetables, although can't get enough of then now. For two whole weeks I lived on cheesy garlic bread from the restaurant at the end of my road as I couldn;t eat anything else.
My solution was to not cook. I had ms until 22 weeks, after which I could start to make the basics again. Be warned, by the time you get to the third trimester, tiredness, achiness, spd, backache and general malaise can also stop you from cooking then too! We have lived as best we can as hubby can't cook at all and rarely picked up the baton to even try!
Things I could eat
Sandwiches
Tortellini in oil
Yoghurt
Crisps (the plainer the better)
Cheese
Some ice-creams
Soup
Dry crackers
Marshmallows (although I had a nasty episode after a bag of these and didn't touch them again)
You just have to eat what you can. Unless someone else is cooking for you you are unlikely to be able to manage proper meals everyday. When I did cook, I made mash with gravy, lentil casserole, vegetable soup, shepherds pie was good if OH dealt with the raw mince, kleftiko (This is the best meal ever for morning sickness).
As above, don't let yourself get hungry as this increases queasiness but reduces your ability to do anything about it. You may find yourself relying on take-aways because once you get to the over-hungry stage, you need food and you need it NOW - no time to cook a meal and only a meal will help!
Awful times but, I think and hope, worth it in the end.0 -
Hi Juicy,
Congratulations!
I had hyperemisis with my second child and as a result ended up being admitted to hospital for two weeks. I found eating very small amounts of dryish food (ginger biscuits, toast, a very small cheese sandwich) helped a little. Try to keep your fluids up by sipping drinks as often as you can manage and, I know it isn't easy, but try to eat small amounts as often as you can.
We have an earlier thread that may give you more ideas:

I'll add your thread to that one later.

Hi again everyone.
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. Tonight hubby prepared a chicken and tomato pasta for me coming in from work. Lovely man that he is, he put very thin slices carrot/onion/pepper through it to try to get some goodness in me. Unfortunately peppers are another thin that turns my stomach so he then stripped it all back so I had a small bowl of dry chicken and pasta. So far it's staying down although not much else has today.
Honestly though, it seems like some of you had it much worse than me so I really can't complain. Just hope it ends at 12 weeks.......0
