Thanks guys! Plenty of good ideas there. Hopefully the next 6-8 wks will pass quickly and my appetite will be back in time for Christmas dinner! X

    Congratulations!

Hope you feel better soon! I feel for you. I suffered until 18 weeks, had to open the fridge with a scarf covering my nose/mouth as the slightest smell made me hurl. I had to ask friends at work not to wear perfume... I lost so much weight. Please be careful you don't dehydrate though.

When I recovered - overnight :D I ate everything in sight.

Don't even get out of bed (move) until you've had something to eat. Keep a pack of digestive biscuits by the bed, have a couple of them before you move much. Always have snacks with you, doesn't matter what, just keep eating. (grapes, dried fruit, bread sticks, biscuits) That seemed to help with me, if I got hungry I got sick?

Have a snack before bed and if you wake up in the night. When you eat a meal, don't overload the plate, you can always have another snack in a few minutes!

If you do fancy anything - I had cravings for grapefruit juice and watercress... (not together!) make sure you have it in so you can enjoy it.

    Good luck!!

    Congratulations!

I was the same with both of my pregnancies, so lots of sympathy to you.

As for what you can do:

Online food shopping from one of the supermarkets who deliver.

Tell your OH to cook for himself and DON'T feel guilty!

If it means not doing things the OS way, then so be it for a few more weeks...it won't be the end of the world.

The most important thing to think about right now is that little one staying all snug and safe in your belly over the cold winter months...and NOT whether your OH has made a beefburger from scratch. ;)

Your sickness will ease off soon honey, then you will be able to enjoy being a mum-to-be....tis the best feeling in the world!

    Congratulations

Firstly, sickness is a really good sign - lots of hormones!:D

I couldn't stand the smell of meat and had a bit of a thing for lemons. Wasn't so into OS then but just went with the flow. OH had to fend for himself for the first 20 weeks, I just couldn't face it. I ate very dry stuff.

Wasn't so bad with the second - first was a girl, second a boy. They say girls are worse.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    congrats

dont feel bad about letting your oh fend for himself or for spending a few wks buying whatever you actually fancy and can manage to eat
once the ms eases off you can go back to budgeting and cooking but for now making sure you eat something is more important.

i spent the 1st 12wks of my last pg living on bottled water, peppermint chewing gum and tomato soup plus the occasional thing i just really fancied at the time not exactly the healthiest combo but didnt do bubs any harm.

I found being hungry made the sickness worse so try eating little and often even if is only a few spoonfuls every hr or so rather than full meals.
try blander foods mash potato is good & quick if you microwave as a jacket pot then mash maybe with a little cheese or a spoonful of beans
yougarts or the little pots of custard/rice make a easy snack maybe with a little fruit puree
I also find soups/smoothies or anything liquidy a better option if your actually sick rather than just feeling sick(as its easier to bring back up soz if tmi)
if your worried about your diet consider a pregnacy multivitamin
this year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk

I haven't experienced the joys of morning sickness, but I often experience nausea with my IBS, and being hungry can cause it or make it worse.

I find that eating something very dry and bland like a plain cream cracker or two before starting to cook (or even thinking about 'proper' food) can help. I also find that peppermint tea helps me quite a lot - no idea if it is ok to drink during pregnancy, but don't see why it wouldn't be. Others swear by ginger (in tea or biscuit form, I assume) to settle nausea, doesn't do much for me though.

I guess it is a case of trying the traditional remedies in turn and in combination with eachother, not worrying too much about what you eat or when, letting the OH forage for himself, and if you find you are unable to eat enough of anything to keep body and soul together then go to the doc for a prescription. Good luck! I hope you find something that works for you.
    Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!

    First of all congratulations!

I suffered quite badly with MS with my 1st 3 pregnancy's (girl/boy/girl) to the point that I would wake up around 3am to relieve myself of my dinner - I can almost see the funny side now - my eldest is almost 11! It was all day, every day, for 8 months. I tried all the normal stuff that everyone suggests and none of it worked for me.

    My tips for coping...

don't drink a glass of milk!
You need to keep your fluid intake up - I would recommend high juice (diluting) especially in pineapple flavour for TMI reasons...
I could keep "Complan" down for some reason - proper food no, milk no, but Strawberry complan stayed down (and was handy when b/f after birth)
I took vitamins because I was so worried about nutrients getting to the baby. The midwife did assure me that the food was in my system long enough for the goodness to pass to the baby - and she was right!
I cook from scratch all the time *except* when pregnant - especially last time. MS stopped at 12 wks with our 4th (girl) I still could not face working with food (due to constantly *feeling* sick) so DH would, under instruction, batch cook stew/Spag bol etc. However I would frequently feed the kids beans on toast/fish fingers and waffles etc :o I practically lived on cup-a-soup (with bread) and nutrigrain bars (the raisin ones)

By the sounds of it your DH is happy to help, he might not be OS just now - show him the ropes (keeping yourself a safe distance away from anything that makes you feel ill!) Don't feel guilty - accept his help!

Wishing you all the best :)
