FOR HEAVENS SAKES - USE YOUR BRAIN.

ON ANY CARD WHICH ROYAL MAIL LEAVE IT SAYS ON THE BACK TO WAIT 48 HOURS BEFORE GOING TO PICK UP OR REQUESTING REDELIVERY.

THAT'S SO THE POSTIES CAN GET IT BACK TO THE SORTING OFFICE.

IT ISN'T ROCKET SCIENCE. WHY DO YOU KEEP ASKING!

Your post is a bit 'shouty', don't you think?

    I think you've missed the point of Custardy's post(s).
Custardy works (or used to work) for Royal Mail.
I may be wrong, but I think the point is that cards usually left by posties say to allow 24 HOURS rather than 48- and that's why Custardy keeps asking where it says to wait 48 hours on the card that was left.

i do enjoy it when people line themselves up
    serpent13 today is your day
this thread relates to a charge item therfore the item never leaves the delivery office, only the card
so why would it state 48 hours? FYI there is no place on charge cards for any time to be left
    unlike the red P739 cards

so hows that for a little bit of rocket science? also just for a bit of fun i was out in a van this morning delivering SD items and packets,on those cards i wrote 2 hours as i would be back by then.
    crazy old world eh ?

infact one reason for the pricing change was all those charities putting pens inside letters looking for donations
you will note most now use redesigned flat pens so they dont pay the higher rate
Yeah, Cancer Research are the worst for this - the pens are flat alright, with sharp edges, and I've practically cut my fingers using one. (Not to mention they're uncomfortable to use).

Why can't RM charge large national & international charities a special rate anyway (like 10 x the normal rate) because of the amount of carp that these organisations send? Please don't be nice to the big charities - they've got loads of money, lots more than they will admit to having.

Actually, most of the cards I've had about items (mostly ones the postie can't get through my letter box or need a signature for) say "please leave at least 1 hour before coming to collect it".

Life's too short to get so worked up about this. Either refuse the letter and wait for the sender to resend or pay the £1. Hardly a big deal and I'm sure Royal mail aren't making profit out of it, it is hassle for them to deal with ths underpaid mail.

    Get over it.

you have to remember RM's pricing is regulated
far more than you would think
a recent example made me laugh
you may recall at xmas RM made local collect from post offices free(instead of 50p) for customers
this had to be cleared with the regulator first as it could be seen as RM offering a service that competitors couldnt
anyway look over the bulk of your mail and note how much of it comes via rival companies and are still delivered from RM.
regardless of how much RM charge those senders can just send via another company and RM still deliver it

anyway if they need to charge anyone its individual customers, they are the ones that cost the most ;)
