Now to find some cupboard space!;)Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

I had an email yesterday replying to a question i asked about Paypal payments, they said they are having a new site shortly and paypal will be a payment option then :j
good, i hope it's soon because i just got this email from google checkout (the service they use for payments) and basically, unless they do something i will no longer be able to order from them because google checkout doesnt' deem maestro worthy anymore
Hello,
Thank you for using Google Checkout, the fast, secure way to shop
at stores across the web.
As of 27th July, Maestro cards will no longer be accepted as a
payment method by Google Checkout. You are receiving this
notification because your default card is a Maestro card
that will no longer be supported.
To ensure that your Checkout account is ready for purchases the
next time you shop, you will need to select a new default
credit/debit card. Accepted payment methods are listed at
http://checkout.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en-uk&answer=105916
You may update your payment information now by clicking 'Edit
payment methods' after signing in to your Google Checkout account
at http://checkout.google.co.uk
If you prefer, you also have the option of updating your payment
information when you make your next purchase.
While you will be unable to place new orders with Maestro cards,
refunds and chargebacks for previous orders will be unaffected.
We apologize for any inconvenience. If you have any further
questions, please visit our Help Centre at
https://checkout.google.com/support/?hl=en-GB
Kind regards,
The Google Checkout Team
charming eh? !!!!!! are they thinking? i think the vast majority of people use maestro vs credit cards for a lot of purchases and in the current recession i think forcing people to use a credit card over a debit card is appalling! that's it make us use a credit ard and encourage debt, cuz we need more of that
i'm also a bit cheesed off about my last order, i finally get a dhl notice to find out it was nearly a week before it was even shipped, then it was damaged and now it's set as being returned and not a peep from approved food about any of it, i am NOT happy! could they not at least contact us when things are going wrong so we know whats happening? normally i don't even get the dhl notices and getting them on the phone or email is, as many know nigh on impossible!
i ordered because everything i ordered was to fill a specific need. only a few items were treats the rest were to save me much needed food money so i can actually afford to by my daughter some birthday presents. if these items aren't shipped to me then i'm losing that money as i'll have to pay full price for them in the store (and i just dont' even have enough money for that!) it's not like most of them will be available by the time this is sorted out so i hope there wasn't too much damage and they can resend most of it (and give me a refund on the postage, i've waited 8 days now with nothing from them at all!) but i'm still losing out somewhere, not to mention i've missed out a few deals in the supermarket thinking 'no it's coming with the af order'... but i'm not sure it is coming after all.... my last two orders took a week or more too, before that they were only 3-4 days!
rant over, sorry about that but i'm starting to get fed up with this. if they want exposure (their appearances here in the forum suggest they do) then they need to do something about making sure they are able to cope with that, it's not like there aren't plenty of people looking for work, hire a few and get one with it!0 -
I would contact them. I needed items for a fete tombola, and when they knew I needed them for a certain date, they made sure they were sent on time.0

I made my first ever order this time, apart from my basket self deleting itself twice, it went OK, considering the very first time I tried, NOTHING I wanted was in stock, I was rather surprised!~*Cerenia*~

I haven't ordered from here yet, I keep browsing, put stuff in my basket and realise that the p+p is more than the cost of the stuff that I have ordered so I don't bother carrying on.
Plus we have a B&M and Home Bargain store nearby and they sell a lot of the same things in there although sometimes not as cheap as here (if you buy 20 or so at a time).
Anyway, I think I am going to place an order this time but need some advice from other members please.
Is it worth buying the Bakin Boys cup cakes?
Do they taste ok or are they nothing special.0 -
It depends on the flavour, the lemon ones I find sickly, the raspberry are nice and the choc ones are ok. My two sons won't eat them at all, they say they are too sweet!! I got quite a few inedible ones in my last boxes, squashed flat, burst packets or broken up to crumbs, 5 or 6 in each of the two boxes were like that. Oddly I got almost no lemon ones in the last two boxes.0

Thanks for the advice.
I thought they were boxes of either chocolate or lemon, are both boxes mixed then?0 -
Re Cup cakes - we love 'em! Both lemon and choc (not tried the raspberry, but they sound nice). Never had a truely dodgey one. Infact the last box seem almost perfect. My normal budget for 'pudding' is 25p per head, so these are a huge saving on my budget.
Now the tinned strawberry jam is another matter - only 35% fruit - my favourite jam from Lidls is 60% fruit. The tinned stuff is so sweet and sickly, it's tiny bits of strawberry floating in a sugar gel. Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -
sb44 at one point they had mixed boxes, but if it says specifically one flavour then I think that's what you will get, I would go for the choc rather than the lemon personally. Some people do love the lemon ones, but I don't have much of a sweet tooth!
Raksha I agree about the jam, it has to have a decent amount of fruit, Lidl do have some lovely jam and marmalade.0 -
Confuzzled, sorry to hear you are having such problems.
I had a look on Google checkout and it seems that they still accept Solo so I assume they also take Switch since Solo is a more limited version of Switch, these are both debit cards, so I don't think it's a case of them only accepting credit cards now. Did they not give an actual reason for why they have stopped using Maestro? To be honest I don't actually know what Maestro is, sorry I am so woefully ignorant, I have always had a Switch bank card until recently. My new bank card is a Visa debit, no idea why Switch or Maestro seem less popular now, I think Visa and Mastercard are taking over the world.
