There were longer delays but that was a while ago ... are you saying you are still waiting for 3 weeks now????

I ordered when there was a delay of 2 weeks, the above was just an exampleof why one would have a valid reason to complain about ASDA

My experience with AF was first order came in the time frame they said, second order took a couple of days longer (I can live with that), third order they were saying 2 weeks delay - 3 weeks after placing the order I was seeing on here that others were receiving their orders they had placed 11 days after I had placed mine, yet I had had no contact from AF to explain why. I believe it to be basic customer service to email someone if there is a longer than expected delay, however I heard nothing. I emailed and was told that my order was definately going out that afternoon. I had received no dispatch mail and so the following day I emailed again and was told sorry it hadn't gone out yesterday after all, but will definately go out this afternoon.

I am very unhappy with AFs customer service - I know they are busy etc., but they really should keep in contact with customers regarding longer than expected delays. It is bad customer relations to just leave things until the customer contacts you.
  • The way I see it is, no company is perfect, they all have their faults. I have had 4 orders from AF now. The 4th is due to be delivered tomorrow. Everytime I have had a query I have emailed them and had a response within a couple of hours. They do their best to help sort out any problems, for example I had been charged for an item I didn't receive in one order, I emailed and was instantly refunded.
I know when I order that I may not receive all goods ordered, it may take a couple of weeks and I accept that.
I weigh up the pros and cons and from my point of view the price I pay for the goods and the communications I have had with AF outweigh any problems with goods not being dispatched in order and not receiving dispatch emails.
It is my choice to use AF as it is with everybody else, if I felt that I wasn't happy with the service I was receiving I would vote with my feet and not use them again.
I also believe that are doing their very best to please everyone and that is enough for me.

As I said before, they are saying the problem is with DHL, but my last parcels didn't come from DHL and I still got no dispatch e-mail.
I agree with oldMcDonald some people seem to get more delay than others and with no communication either, unless you contact AF yourself. When I placed my first order it said 7 days delay, it took 3 weeks and that was with my husband chasing it up 3 times.
As for stronger boxes being used, the last two boxes which I received were inferior to the first two I received, they were simply larger boxes with the tops folded over and taped shut, this was definitely the weakest part of the parcel, if they had gotten rolled about at all they would have burst.
I think we have to accept they are still having problems, the backlog which was supposed to be cleared by this weekend obviously hasn't been, as the site is now back to saying around a week delay.

We have gone back to using the old software until problems with the new version are sorted so things should be back to normal re the despatch email and tracking.

Based on our observations, we can definitely recommend the alternative courier for heavier loads. They are a smaller operation and rely more on people than machines to handle parcels, and their people take care! Obviously not everyone wants to place a bigger/heavier order and outlying areas are (for the moment) unable to take advantage of this option but, if you can, give it a try and let us know how it goes.

We are constantly looking into alternatives re delivery but finding the right balance between cost and efficiency is a tricky one.

As always, we appreciate your feedback on all aspects of our service.

    Hi
I placed an order on 21st Feb, that needed your 'heavy load' postage, but have heard nothing since ....... not that I am overly worried as I expected a delay per the wording on your website. Might it have been shipped yet?
    Thanks for the help

  • My last order was delivered by the new courier(plain white transit&forgot to ask firms name:o ) with no damage to the parcel (DHl always manage some damage, must be an extra service:mad: ).
My only critique of the new courier would be the lack of notification or tracking ability for orders, maybe a text message from them the day before delivery would please us and save them having to redeliver so win-win:D .

The biggest problem with AF and Dan is everytime I place an order he absolutely infuriates me by adding new stock lines that I want !!!!

I don't think the site, in recent months, has ever had on it that there isn't a delay. If it says on the home page that there is a delay, then until that is removed I am presuming there is.

I appreciate you didn't like your packaging, but all you are saying is 'if' and 'would,' - the package didn't get damaged and, I'm presuming, neither did the contents, so I really don't know what you mean about that?

AF have already been on and explained that some people are getting a little longer delay than others simply due to trying to fulful customers orders as well as trying to do them in order, but I certainly don't see the massive discrepancies there were before, and I for one don't see the point in leaving some customers orders sat around unfilled, just because they have said they are going to do them in chronological order.

Oldmacdonald - I can understand you were annoyed at the time, although I do seem to remember you posting as to how pleased you were and how well packed the order was, but I cannot see why you are raking up a complaint about an order that was placed and received weeks ago, or see how it is relevant to people just reading the thread. You even made me think you had still been waiting 3 weeks for your order ...

The text thing might be a good idea for the larger orders/different delivery company Treboeth!!!

I think that is the problem, people are commenting on their own experiences, and perhaps seeing them as the definitive example of what is happening.

Contract law is based on performance, and fulfilling the terms and conditions, non performance means the contract can be voided. Therefore,it is very constructive that AF is made aware of these issues.

My reason for posting was that Satanxxx posted a sarcastic comment about what others should do in a given situation, then when he/she found themselves in a similar situation did exactly the same as the poster they were decrying.

The answer therefore, is to accept that people will post as they see it,and experience it,and understand that your experience may not be universal, and that good, or bad, we are all allowed an opinion and a comment.

I would be very, very much surprised if AF could declare that DHL were not fulfilling their contract performance due to a temporary problem with the dispatch notices. The main action of the performance would be to deliver the goods in good condition within a reasonable time frame, and since the matter of the dispatch notices appears to be in hand, I fail to see how your criticism is constructive. Presuming of course that AF and DHL are both aware of the problem which it appears they are since AF posted the other day about it.

I don't think anybody has said you aren't allowed an opinion or comment, but just as you are entitled, others are entitled to post theirs to give readers a balanced view.
