Avoiding payments

Well looks like my ex has done another runner. My caseworker has finally been able to get hold of enough pay slips to make an assessment for maintenance, but the employer had told him that while this is going on, he hasn't been into work all week. So it looks like he's going to lose another job. He also told me that when my ex was told by the employer that the case was chasing him, he said that he didn't care and shrugged it off.
What did I do to get lumbered with a caniving !!!!!! like him.... actually don't answer that lol.
So looks like I'm probably going to be back at square one. My caseworker is going to do the assesment anyway, and I've said I don't care how much it is, as long as it's something. I know my ex fakes his caring wonderful nature, I just wish more people saw he was a tit, not just me lol

hmm this does make things interesting, as he never tells them when he gets another job, he just waits for me to find out (which he never hides) and I tell the CSA. But he's got so many bailiffs and other money problems, I can't see things changingTSB: £4900

I am fuming and have written a complaint to the CSA and copied it to my MP, James Purnell (Head of Work and Pensions) and to Gordon Brown. If that doesn't get something done I will contact the papers and TV about it. It's fundamentally wrong that a parent should not be financially responsible for their children. If I was out of work I would still have to support the children - there is no option. Good Luck - go get 'em.
I agree, while there are lots of good things that come of the CSA and the powers that they hold, there are still HUGE gaps though. My ex hasn't paid a penny for over a year, and seemingly is getting away with it. He has moved to another country, and by the time that country does anything (if at all) through REMO, he will have saved thousands, and I will have gone into debt by thousands. All because I am now supporting his child on my own, my bills haven't lessened with his departure in supporting her. I fume too, but feel powerless. It is especially galling as I am a MUG and continue to encourage 'a strong bond with Dad'! I think our Government needs to put powers in place that NO PARENT can get away from supporting the children they create.
I work full time, and short of taking on another job, what do I do. Where is my government now and the CSA? They have passed the buck to the German Government!0 -
Why dont you write to him and tell him unless he comes to an immediate agreement you will start a action dirctly in the German Court ( you can use the Germany Cousulate here in the UK) You could also claim costs if you have written to him to give him an opption to make payments. REMO is no good to you untill you get the court order. Does he have any property in the UK by the way.0

Luckily mine has never gone abroad, he's just avoided it every other way possible. I'm struggling to get through uni as a single parent, he's living with his fiance who is expecting another baby in 3 weeks. I wouldn't care if he paid just a penny, just as long as he paid something. I suppose I want him to look like he cares, but I know this is something that'll never be.TSB: £4900

Hiya, thanks. No, I haven't written to him as I know he would not do anything. He does have a housein the UK which is in his sole name, and I've thought about enlisting a solicitor here to put a charging order in place. He also has a home in S.of France (nice, eh, glad to see his lifestyle doesn't come in the way of his kid)
However, as my previous agreement was through the CSA, I don't have a UK court order to say he must pay child support, so thought REMO was my own way forward. At least the only way that wouldn't cost money I don't have.
Its been since November that I went to Magistrates court re: REMO, and am now chasing the magistrates courts for answer as to whether Germany has the documents, and when will this be sorted. I was reasssuring told it could take years. (his CSA assessment was £560 per month assessed on one child, and he would still be on a high income in Germany) That was my monthly mortgage payment up in smoke, and he didn't even have the decency to tell me he was moving to Germany to give me any warning the my financial situation would change.
I think I will take your suggestion and write to the ex, if for not other reason than to start a paper trail and as you say, show I gave him the opportunity to make payments. I'll send it recorded delivery.
By the way, it took until November to get his address in Germany, he was keeping that one quiet, even from our grown daughters who kept asking him for it. I know it won't get anywhere asking him for child support, he'll only have a chuckle and be glad he is doing me harm. (he won't see the effect on his daughter)
Do you really think I'd get anywhere going to German Consolute? Who/what department would I speak to there?0 -
Letter has been typed, will be sent recorded today. I doubt it will get me anywhere, but if it does CMAC, you'll be my new best friend

Don't you mean that the state would have to support you and your children if you were out of work?
You would get various benefits and allowances for your children to do this, and you would get allowances for yourself as well.
Your ex will just be getting allowances for themself only.

real1314, good point. we went through a bad time once and we had to claim benefits eventually when we did, the Mr said thank god we had a kid because most of what we were eligible for we only got because we had a child in the house:eek: he said we would have been stuffed if it was just the 2 of us, lol then for a joke he said 'if you could see your way clear to pushing out another one we get more for a baby:D' my answer, 'its a no to the baby love, have a tin of beans love :rotfl:.0

If he has a property in the UK then you can use the CSA as he is still habituaialy res in the UK. Does he work for a company which has a UK base ? that would help also. One other thing You need a court order to get REMO involved no court order no involvment.0
