morning all, girls and bumps!
How's everyone today?
((((((((Triggles))))))) some gentle hugs for you.
Sami, I'm glad you know now why yesterday was so hard with Chris, that must be a relief!
Glamazon, that's a shame you're not a Cardiff girl anymore, I'm on the look out for local mum-friends!
I met a really nice new mum via freecycle t'other day, but just one new pal doesn't feel like a support network! Friends of mine who've already done the baby thing went to those NCT classes and met some good friends there. But we just went to the free day at the hospital, and didn't really fit in. And no-one was really there to make friends I think, it was just an information gathering day.
Sat here having my brekkie, wondering what to prioritise today. Does the baby (currently called Fergus in our heads) need us to have a finished off house, me to sort out my practical pain-relief jobs for labour (new pads for TENS, swiss ball, therma wraps...) a freezer full of meals so when he comes his mum and dad aren't surviving off takeaway, a dust free environment so his little lungs are ok....... and then I get so overwhelmed I don't do any of it properly, just flit from task to task panicking!
Love Weezl x
P.s I'd be really greatful for any tips on newborn carseats. What's better/worse about front facing/rearfacing and all that?
Do you kno if there is a breast feeding support group locally? I found I made the best mum friends through baby/toddler groups rather than antenatal classes etcoh and bubs won't mind if you've not dusted the tv so leave that one until last, pain relief and food are the main priorities
Carseats are easy babies should be kept rear facing for as long as possible as it is far safer (in sweeden the rule is they should be rear facing until 3yrs old) the reason is that in a crash much less stress is put on the neck when rear facing.
My local council have an independent carseat advice service and they recommend using Maxi Cosi or Britax seats as they are the most reliable brands but obv you should always make sure they fit correctly in your car:)0 -

We have no secrets here:D
Some of the preg ladies are gagging for it tho (wonder if any of them will be at in on the ward :rotfl:)
:shhh: I also kno some of the preggers are secret parent club lurkers :silenced:
When an inpatient with DS1, I asked to go home for a night. They weren't keen on letting me go, but I insisted. The young male (quite dishy) doctor asked me why I wanted to go home. Being 19 I siad 'oh, just to spend a night in my own bed'. Still not convinced I eventually blurted out 'I am horny as hell and the disabled toilets in the reception are are too noisy!!' :rotfl: He let me gp home for a night.
Then he delivered DS1 and I have never been so embarassed in my life when he asked me if the night I got home was worth it.0 -
Yay! My doppler came from eBay this morning - and I heard the heartbeat first time! Does anyone know whether Tesco sell the ultrasound gel? I'm trying to avoid a trip into town on a busy Saturday!Sealed Pot Challenge #817 £50 banked0

Morning all!
I woke up with a headache but tea and chocolate digestives seem to have sorted me out
I've been Googl'ing to see if I can find out more on my spina bifida result but noone else seems to deal in actual numbers. Only thing I can think of is your supposed to have 46 chromosomes so maybe it means all are there, nothing more nothing less, so everything is "normal"Will ask when I next see a midwife.. Like I said, not worried, just curious
ETA: One thing my mum asked about that blood test for DS/SB.. obviously they tested my blood from my arm, not from the baby (like cvs and amnio).. does that mean that they're testing my dna make up for if I'm a carrier of the gene or is there now some of the baby's blood mixed in with all of mine so they can separate that from a normal blood test and check the baby's dna?? I'm all confused.. can't get it straight in my head!
I'm now waiting for my mum (although she's just txt to say she's still in bed, reading the papers - hmm, and OH wonders where I get it from?!) so that we can go shopping. We need decorations - balloons, table confetti, banners - and a huge roll of wrapping paper for my Grandma's birthday party tomorrow, and mum says she's going to buy me an outfit for tomorrow too as nothing I have fits my bottom half anymore0 -

I doubt it, but mine says you can use any oil with it - Bio Oil worked!I believe someone here also had success with Durex Play!
[ETA: LOL, confession above!]
