Hi
This is the first time I have posted on the forum. I found out last week that I was pregnantand by my calculations I am due 3rd November 2009.
But I have to say I am a bit scared about everything and am hoping that other members in the same boat can reassure me. This is my first one (obviously) and have no idea what I am meant to do now.
I phoned up my GP and was told I just needed to see the Midwife at 8 weeks - is this normal?
Anyway, thanks for any help/advice you can give me.Tegan Lily arrived 4 November 2009 (3 days late)
Floyd Peter arrived 9th July 2011 (1 day early)0 -

Karen, welcome to the list! 8 weeks is the normal time for your booking in appointment... Don't expect health proffesionals to be excited for you though, they never are!A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

I suppose the professionals deal with it all the time, but I still want them to be excited about me having a baby :rotfl:
How do you manage not telling people about it, I am generally eating a lot and feeling queasy (have just been sick the once so far and that was before work) but I think people at work must guess, plus I am excited and want to tell everyone.
Also I am getting married 2 May (luckily I will be 13 weeks at that point so shouldn't really be showing and will be okay to fly) and have a couple of hen parties lined up and I am sure most of the people coming will guess I'm pregnant as I will not be drinking any alcohol. I used to drink quite frequently so it will be more obvious.Tegan Lily arrived 4 November 2009 (3 days late)

Just seen something really scary online:

"One in seven people believe it is acceptable in some circumstances for a man to hit his wife or girlfriend if she is dressed in “sexy or revealing clothes in public”, according to the findings of a survey released today."MFW Challenge member no. 96 - on hold!

It's really hard! I'm 10 weeks and 4 days today, and already have quite a noticeable bump (this is my third child). People have started to notice and to ask me outright if I'm expecting again. I don't want to lie to anyone and deny the obvious, but equally I don't really want to go public to the world until after my 12 week scan which is next Tuesday. It is irritating though that virtual strangers and mere acquaintances are apparently discussing the fact that I'm pregnant, when I haven't yet told some of my closest friends or either my or my OH's parents yet.
With me it's maybe made a bit harder by the fact that I had a missed miscarriage with my first pregnancy which wasn't discovered until 17 weeks (no 12 week scan offered then) when everyone knew, and it was hard when people I hadn't seen for months were asking me when the baby was due/how old it was for a long time after the loss was discovered. I did have an early scan with this pregnancy and saw the heartbeat at 7 weeks, but as a result of my pervious experience I don't want to say I'm not pregnant, when I hope and pray that I still am and that all is well, but equally I would like to control the number of people who do know the facts so that if the worst does happen, I know who I need to tell, and won't be blindsided by well wishing people.0 -

ML - I don't even want to read your link - too hormonal at the moment. That is awful.
