Thanks everyone for the kind comments.

I have 3 other children, 2 girls 14 and 7 and my baby boy was 1 in December. The girls are a great help around the house and they are all loads of fun to be with and keep me busy lol.

I am so mad at DH, after a year sober too. He had the cheek to say this morning, its not like I do it every weekend. Hes trying to play it down.

I Just woke up, decided to join DS in his snooze, can't believe the time I have slept nearly 2 hours and have a mountain of work and a visit to Tesco to do within the next 2 hours.

Sorry to hear that Caz, they can be so selfish at times. DH told me the same thing when I was 12 weeks with DS, I didnt see him till after the child was born, TBH the marriage never really recovered from that, though he did stay sober this last year, I still resent him leaving like that.

((((Labour vibes to all who need them ))))

Meet my wee man Nathan James...

    IMG_0212-1.jpg

My birth story started on the Tuesday (Term +13!) when I went into hospital to start the induction process - I received 3 doses of Prostin - Tues pm, Wed am and Wed pm which started contractions (hypnobirthing techniques helped me manage these with no painkillers at all!) and on Thurs am was pronounced 2-3cm dilated and ready to go to labour room at 8am on 26 Frb. Unfortunately the move downstairs was delayed until 9pm that day.

By 9.40 I was hooked up to a monitor and attached to a drip and had been told to expect it to take around 12 hours to delivery.

The monitor tracked my contractions and Nathan's heart rate and showed that every time I contracted his heart rate fell which wasn't ideal so we had an internal monitor clipped to his wee head to get a more accurate view and blood samples were taken from his head to check blood oxygen levels, the results of which were thankfully fine...

I managed until about 12ish (times get a little blurry..) using just hypnobirthing techniques but as I was getting more tired (had been awake since 6am Thurs so 18 hours) tried gas and air to see if that would help. Sadly it just made me sick and dizzy (and it tastes foul!) so after a couple of goes I handed back the mouth piece - I wanted to feel better not worse!

At 1.20am I decided to accept the Diamorphine injection. That stuff is AWESOME - time just evaporated between contractions, apparently I was dozing! - and before we knew it I was 9cm dilated, about 2 hours in advance of expectations, and started getting the strongest urge to push. I can only describe it as a kind of spasm, completely different to contractions and far less unpleasant... As I was not yet at 10cm I had to resisit the urge to push and instead breathe through. Hypnobirthing helped with this immensely - without it I don't think I would have known how to breathe through the urge...

At 6am they declared me fully dilated and finally I could push. With Hubbles, the midwife and the labour sister urging me on I gave it my all but, as the head was marginally rotated from facing straight he was in the wrong position and a decision was taken at around 6.40 to use forceps, particularly in view of the effect my contractions were still having on the baby's heart rate. I remember this bit only as though it was happening to someone else. At 0703 my baby was delivered onto my chest and I fell in love in a way I had never dreamed was possible.

Now, just about a week later we can't imagine being without him in our lives. We are very grateful for this little miracle, particularly as for about 15 years I have been living under the false belief that I was unable to have children due to some damage suffered as a teeenager...

I'm already starting to think a second wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility:rolleyes:

ahh that's not so bad then :D I have trouble working out when people are due at the mo, I nearly feinted when I got my "now ur 27 weeks" emails and they said now ur in the 3rd trimester  Thinking we really need to get a shift on with getting the house sorted!!

Just think this time next year you may be expecting a grandchild!!
Triggles who is away at the mo but is usually here has 2 grandchildren around the age of her youngest - her very own family play group ;)

Not at 32 weeks, but 2 or 3 weeks early to get his pregnancy lark over and done with a bit sooner would be good:rotfl:
