    Well morning all.
Congrats Sugar and Labour vibes to all those in need :D
Did we hear from feelie how she got on at Antenatal?
I'm soooooo tired, had a lovely evening with OH last night, he took me out for dinner to a really lovely pub type place, but the food was not your average pub food.
We had steak and it was honestly the best meal we have had in such a long time.
OH fell in love with his steak, at one point he said he was going to the toilet to have a *cough* five knuckle shuffle cos it was so good  :rotfl:
Then we popped into his Mums and came home to watch Shawshank redemption, I love that film!
His Dad laid the carpet in the boys room and it looks gorgeous, he's coming back to do our room dotay cos he run out of Adhesive.

Pregnancy wise, I'm still huge and now my belly button has almost popped out! :o
Nans given me 3-4 weeks lol

    I
I used to make DS bottles up with hot water, never left it to cool down :o
Me too but I didn't leave them to cool we would cool them quickly under the cold tap, but it doesn't say if thats ok or not but I would have thought that was safest coz the bugs would be killed by the heat and then cooling quickly would mean less time for germs to breed  but later on I was very naughty and made them up in advance :o

When DD was born 6 years ago, we were told to make the bottles up in advance with boiling water. Put them in the fridge and then reheat them when needed !!!

My sister had her wee boy last year and was told by the MW to make up 1 at time, but there was nothing wrong with having the boiling water in a couple of bottles ant letting them cool to room temperature and adding the powder when required,
so I think I am going to be a bit confused as to how to do it this time:confused:

That is exactly what that article is about the NCT are calling for clearer instructions accross the board - some of the instructions on formula tins/boxes are actually not in line with the latest safety recommendations.

I was also told to fill bottles with water then add the powder and then re-heat when its neded - The issue with that is that the formula is not sterile and doing that doesn't kill any potential bugs, if you follow the link at the bottom there is info on how to get a fact sheet of what the best practice is :D

    EDIT: re posting link http://www.askbaby.com/nct-bottle-milk-preparation.htm
    Nct fact sheet here http://www.nct.org.uk/info-centre/publications/view/43

I think the 2 most important things to remember are that

The formula is made up with water that is ABOVE 70 degrees - To (sterilise) kill the bacteria

Cooled down quickly - So germs don't get the chance to breed.

My midwife told me it is ok to store them in the fridge once they are made up as they are then cold enough to halt any bacteria from breeding, and when reheated to a suitable temp for the baby to drink, it is not really warm enough to stimulate many of the dormant bacteria...therefore less likely to cause illness.....The article does state that 50 degrees is optimum bacteria breeding temp, well I doubt any baby drinks milk at 50 degrees!!

Congratulations sugarspun, on your wedding day:D Are you having a honeymoon?

durham - Maybe the stubborn monkey will make an appearence tonight for you. If not at least you know the end is definitely in sight now:)

My mum has text me twice in 3 days and FIL turned up (again) the other day.....we usually see FIL maybe every 2-3 months and I hear from my mum maybe every 2 weeks...I think they are all scared I am going to give birth and not tell them:rolleyes: !!!!!!...why would I do that!! I bet we are going to get increased phone calls from next week onwards from everybody..just 'checking' if I am OK.
The most annoying one is dropping the kids off at school, I get constant comments
"oooh you not had that baby yet"
Well bloody obviously not I am still waddling around the size of a hippo aren't I:mad:
Well this week I am going to try avoiding everyone, I have to drop ds2 off early for his special literacy lesson, and I am going to just wave bye to ds1 at the gate and make a run for home before anyone grabs me;) I am also going to try and turn up last thing at pick-up time:)

Anyway that was a bit of a rant wasn't it:D I am just getting to the fed up stage now, not fed up of being pregnant!!! Just fed up of everyone elses attitude to me being pregnant!!
