    Hi all,

Over lunch today I scared the bejesus out of my DH by saying I wanted to try for a baby (he's been nagging me for a little while to be fair, but I think the shock of me saying I actually wanted one left him a little speechless). To be honest I have absolutely no idea where to start, should I be taking supplements, should I go and see my doctor and get a check-up?? I spend quite a bit of time on these forums and knowing how friendly most people are on other areas I was hoping some people here could give me a few pointers at to where to start?? Apart from the obvious  :p:o

P.s ok sami, you caught me out there! it wasn't a roof but a ceiling. And I can't think of any lady bits words to rhyme with ceiling.....:p perhaps I shoulda said:

    Ode to Sami:

    'you sound like you're reeling
    from the ceiling
    which is peeling,
    while concealing
    the foof, which is feeling
    less than appealing,
    and could have you squeeling!'

    I'll get my coat...
    :rotfl::T:T:T
You are fab Weezl!! (possibly have too much time on your hands tho!)

I have actually had a great weekend ignoring the ceiling part - I haven't had to change a nappy since Saturday morning :D and I was right Chris was wide awake at 7am but in swooped Grandma and whisked him away :T so I slept until almost 10!! Unfortunately he is currently sat with me watching Wild at Heart  he tells me he's "no tired"

    Still catching up xx

Searching, why so many visitors? If they haven't got big travel costs to pay, ask them to bring something or contribute to the food/takeaway costs :) I'm sure noone will mind especially as everyone (non-MSE! ;)) knows how pricey babies are :)

Caz, how does your latest compare to the others, birth weight wise? How are they all taking to her? :)

    Hi and welcome :)

If you haven't got any other health issues, I don't think you need to see your doctors before starting to TTC. I asked mine if they would test to see if I was already immune to Rubella but they said they didn't do it until your booking bloods. Other than that, they weren't really interested!

It's a good idea to start on Folic Acid (400-thingies a day) now. In theory, you should take it for three months before even starting to TTC but it often doesn't work out that way ;) You can get FA from supermarkets and chemists, a one a day tablet - I think the ones I took were £4-something from Boots for 90 tablets.

Obviously there are all the usuals like cut down your drinking and stop smoking if either apply to you - and your OH too! :)

That's all I can think of for now :) Good luck!

Well congrats on making the decision!!! Of you head to the trying for a baby thread, you will get more answers! http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1215113

I for one, didn't plan any of my pregnancies! The one time we did try, a year and a half of nothing! So I went on the pill, got a job and 4 month later was pregnant with DS2!
