  • What are the portion pots that I have heard about - how are they used and do they work?

Im thinking of starting this healthy eating plan myself however i shall be doing the on line one as there are no classes near me...
how is everyone getting on with theirs?
I've lost nearly a stone now and I have found this diet really easy to stick to. I haven't got into a routine to do the exercises yet though. Do the weeks free trial online, there is a link in my previous post. Its still valid.

    These are the portion pots.
Says Rosemary Conley: “Overestimating portion sizes is one of the biggest reasons why dieters don’t lose weight as fast as they’d like, so, by using my revolutionary Portion Pots®, they really can’t go wrong as the portion sizes will be easily controlled.”

I got mine free when I joined online, I also got some of her books from the library to look at some of the recipes

Anybody go to a RC group? There was an ad in our local paper today and I don't know anybody who goes. Just after info really please. I often see her on TV and she seems very fit and positive about healthy eating.
  • Hi Penny

I bought the RC magazine once, and it seemed very focussed on calories per meal and g of fat etc (which didn't massively appeal, although I may not have fully grasped the plan just from reading the one magazine) - that said, the idea of the 'portion pots' appealed to me... I will be interested to read of any positive, first hand experience of the plan and classes.
  • Hi, I have been to her classes (and still go), they are run by franchises (sp) so each have a different person running them. I go with my mum and sister both have lost over 2 stone. I have different weight issues so I only go for the exercise (im currently undergoing hypnotherapy for weight loss) . The classes are so much fun i really enjoy them. There is no pressure on who has not lost weight and it is more focused on healthy eating combined with exercise.

Everyone who goes are really chatty and we have a laugh with the exercise as everyone is in the same boat - all red and sweaty!! :)

The diet itself is based on eating food under 5% fat and you are given a calorie amount per day. It also focuses on wholegrain and low GI which keep you filled up for longer.
They have a slimmer of the week for the person who has lost the most amount of weight. I think it is more fun than any other weight loss class I have been to. The first 2 weeks are hard as you adjust to a new eating regime but it does work.

  • I forgot to mention that the class goes like this: You get weighed, hang around chatting while everyone is weighed then you move on to the floor for a chat about healthy eating some motivating talks by the leader, a certificate is given to the person who has lost the most weight that week then its on to the exercise. It lasts about 45 mins we do a mix of aerobics (which you do at your own level) and floor exercises crunchies, ab exercises and a nice stretch at the end.
The whole class lasts around 1hr 20-30 mins so its a lot longer than the regular weight loss class but no other includes exercise.

    Hello Angie!!:D ;)
Thanks very much glitterycloud :T - sounds good to me. I currently go to SW and have lost a tad off 2 stones but feel I need a little something extra. I liked the sound of exercise at class. I'd rather do some exercise than sit and listen to our consultant go round everyone in the class (and there's a LOT now we're in a New Year;) ). Don't get me wrong, I think it's important to praise people who've done well and also encourage people but I wish sometimes they'd just do maybe half a dozen and then give out the awards.

I love the SW way of eating, the recipes and I feel everso healthy but things have slowed down and try as I might, I need to get that weight moving again. I will happily carry on eating the SW way because I think it's very healthy but I think I need the discipline of being weighed each week and some extra exercise would be good too.
  • Hi Pennylane, Im the same as you in the fact I don't like the way SW or WW spend an awful amount of time talking to individuals as it doens't involve everyone. My mum had never taken regular exercise before so I did wonder if she would keep it up, after the first session which was hard for her she now loves it and looks forward to the meeting every week. It has made my mum alot more active and she enjoys getting out and walking now.
I think if we had gone to a different meeting then she would not be as healthy as she is now. Having structured exercise within the meeting is a good kick start to upping your own exercise.
