Rosemary Conley anyone?

Hi,

I've been looking at the Rosemary Conley Classes beause of the exersize element but I can't find any information about the actual diet.

Can anybody who has done it/is doing it please enlighten me on the process - do you enjoy the classes, do you like the foods you can eat, is it possible to maintain the therories learnt long term?

I'm currently 2 weeks in to slimming world but I find the plan to restricting and confusing with red and green days, so would love to know how limiting RC is before I swap. Also is it possibe to eat out on the RC plan?

Its between Rosemary and Weight Watchers at the mo!!

Thanks guys

She does a magazine too - have a quick free read of it next time you're in the supermarket. From what I remember it is low fat food, plenty veg, regular exercise, with a few little treats thrown in for exercising enough.

I have just done a weeks trial online with Rosemary Conley, this diet is for me and I found it easy to stick to.

Its is based on low GI foods that fill you for longer, watching your portions and eating lots of fruit and veg, really its about having a healthy diet.

I am doing the fat attack fortnight which is only 1200 calories a day but I haven't struggled with this. I did slimming world a couple of years ago and struggled with it but I know it works really well for other people.

This trial is still valid, try it and have a good look at her diet and see what you think.
  • I started Rosemary Conley classes 8 weeks ago and am loving it! Having tried Slimming World and Weight Watchers before, with varying success, I've finally found a diet that I actually enjoy and can get on with. My trouble is my lack of self control when given a diet where you can eat as much as you want - i.e. SW and Core on WW.

The theory is quite simple, here's a very quick rundown:

2 weeks on a restricted 1200 calorie a day diet consisting of 200 cal breakfast, 300 cal lunch, 400 cal dinner plus 200 cal for milk/yogurt and 100 call for 2 pieces of fruit. All food has to be under 5% fat.

The idea is that this gives you a kick start - I lost 6 lbs which is wonderful incentive to keep going.

Once your first two weeks are over, your personal allowance is worked out on your age and new weight - mine is currently 1560 a day. So I can now allow myself a 100 cal desert, a 100cal treat (any % fat) and an alcoholic drink if I want. When I'm feeling good I use the extra calories to give myself bigger portions of rice, pasta etc.

The main difference between RC and the others is exercise. You really do have to do both to get the successes she promises. That said I'm struggling with a hip injury at the moment, so only doing very low impact stuff and I'm still averaging 1-2lb a week loss. I've even had a birthday and several nights out and have still lost! I'm hoping to get my first stone award at class tomorrow night.

I can't praise it enough. I think I have finally found a plan I can stick to very much longer term - and as no food is banned and no worries about combining foods - it's just so easy.
  • Sorry I should also say that the exercise classes are really friendly and very easy to do - there's absolutely no embarassment with all shapes and sizes happily taking part.

Give it a go, what have you got to lose.............
  • Hi vtmil!

I joined rc in january to lose weight for my wedding in june and lost 2 stone. I love the exercises, (and i'm not known for my love of exercise) everyone's really friendly and i look forward to going every week. I did slimming world 4 years ago and managed to lose 2 and a half stone but it took me about a year. I put the weight back on (that's no bad reflection on s/w btw just my shockingly awful will power....) and when i tried it again it didn't work for me second time around.

Just a warning though, rosemary conley is a completely different diet and much more restricting. You start off on a fat attack fortnight which after unlimited food on slimming world can seem brutal. I'm not knocking slimming world at all but my advice would be if you're seriously thinking about switching to rc you may want to allow some time in between. I lost 9lb in my first two weeks at rc but also lost 8lb at slimming world in first 2 weeks there. I've found rc to be easier to get my head round, as you're given a booklet with breakfasts, lunches and dinners and you just pick one from each.

Quite good value for money too as it's a diet and exercise class in one!

Hope this helps and you lose weight whichever one you decide to stick with ;)

  • I lost weight many years ago with Rosemary Conley (classes) and just return now and then if I put on more than 4 or 5 lbs. As well as the exercise (and two choices here - aerobicise and salsa) the diet gives a range of recipes to try. She has written a number of recipe books too which are useful.

It's a very friendly class set up and the exercise is fun and for all ages and shapes (and a few men too at my local group).

PS Just to say the only reason I don't keep on going all the time is that I pay for a gym membership, so try to use that instead.

    Hi

My sister in law runs our local RC franchise

i used to go along to the classes initially

but due to work commitments no longer do so :(

but i stick to the less than 5% fat ( 5g per 100g) diet most of the time

at first you think OMG i will never stick to it,as it seems impossible ! lol

but you get used to it ( and reading all the packaging ;) ) quite quickly

i am appalled at some of the fat contents of the foods i used to eat, on a regular basis ! even the ones that you think wouldn't be "that bad" !

the exercise is good fun ,even for the unfit / un coordinated ,like me haha!
  • Im thinking of starting this healthy eating plan myself however i shall be doing the on line one as there are no classes near me...
how is everyone getting on with theirs?
  • I joined RC almost 3 wks ago. I lost 7lbs on the Fat Attack fortnight:j . I go to a class as I have tried online programmes before and found I could not maintain my motivation.

I enjoy the exercise element, and this is someone who has never done an aerobics class in her life. I am now inspired enough to join my local gym.

I should add that 7 years ago I lost almost 7st with Slimming World and really got on well with the diet but personal circumstances got in the way and I now have to do it all again:eek: , but I found SW no longer suited me. RC is very simple as it is ordinary food just with less fat and the portion pots are a godsend. My husband eats the recipes I cook and has found them all to be very tasty.
