just to say thank you to all of you for your advice and help in this matter.. will call the credit card company and hope they'll be able to cancel it

Make sure you come back and let us know what happens either way. You never know you might have a new laptop by the end of the week.
  • Just a quick thank you to all of you for your advice and help in this matter.. will call the credit card company and hope they'll be able to cancel it
  • I've done the same...i bought a camera about an hour ago then thought this is too good to be true...so started checking them out....the only thing i found about them was your message on here. So i've phoned up the credit card company - the only real way to stop being ripped off was to cancel it. Luckily nothing had gone through. I wonder if they are legit? They don't really have any of the usually security stuff (golden padlock, when you click on the paypal visa signs as the bottom they don't link through to anything, you don't get a confirmation email after your purchase) also the shipping seams free which is nuts if it's coming from the US.

Hope you managed to sort your purchase out...

If anyone does have any luck with ukelectronicsbuy.com can they let us know...cos if they are real - they sure are cheap...

    Best,

    Ollie
  • when i say cancel it, i mean cancel my card and get a new one...
  • hello again, I spoke to the credit card company and luckily northing had gone through yet.. but this is all a bit weird..

You're asking to be ripped off if you use this site:

    (1) Domain registered last week.
    (2) Registered to a California address yet they ship from NY.
    (3) Incomplete address.
    (4) 0845 contact number - no geographic line
    (5) Crappy free off the shelf website
    The man without a signature.

I put the camera into google shopping and did a search... Got seduced by the price...
  • Hi, I also got taken in by the very attractive prices and attempted to buy a DVD player. There was no shipping charge and no VAT - but the check-out collected my Credit Card Details and set-up an account.

A colleague informs me that this looks like a major fraud to collect private details associated with a credit card - there was no purchase.

If you have used this site - immediately call your bank or credit card company and let them know what happened. Also report the site to the police and HM Revenue and customs.

Golden rule is never give credit card details to a site without a "https" at the begining of the URL and never give credit card details BEFORE completing the check-out.:o
  • I also just came across this website by searching for UKElectronicsBuy.com. I mean a 'company' that is selling a £47.99 mouse for £18.49 seemed a little odd to me. Nothing on Google, but appears on Google Shopping??
  • you're right and I should have thought about this before.. am still shocked but good to hear that I am not the only one who got seduced by the price..

has anyone already reported the site to police/HM revenu and customs?

    Thanks for all your responses!
