Good luck!
Thanks! They were some super tips! I'm thinking of trying to get a head start and have been buying books on grammar and nosing through them as I'm not due to start until Feb!
Have you been on any of the residential schools for languages? Were they useful?Saving all my pennies0 -
I will be going to my first residential school this summer and i'm nervous as anything but can't wait. I've never made it to any of the day schools for previous courses but the general concensus is that they are well worth attending.
Can't afford to think about Spanish at the moment though, U211 Exploring the English language is coming to an end and i've got to revise for my exam. Is it bad that i've only read the chapters I need for my TMAs so far? Good luck to anybody with summer exams looming.Make £5 a day in July - £105.33/£155

Hi all !!
Please can I join - I have just registered for AA100 - The Arts Past and Present. I am just waiting for all the paperwork to come through.
Not due to start until October 2010 but already excited about the course :T I am a little bit worried too as I have Bi-Polar so I am really going to have to push myself at some points !!
I have not studied with OU before and I am not sure what I want to go on and do after AA100 but will have a look through and see.

Good luck Tashja,
You'll be fine, just make sure you keep well up to date while you can in case things get hard. Perhaps have a look out for a second-hand copy of the first book so you can get started early, then any rough patches won't mess up your timetable so much.
Mum2one,
I wish I could laugh at you doing your assignment at a service station but I've had no sleep last night getting my assignment in because I didn't start it until the submission date which was yesterday. How many times have I promised myself i'll never be so stupid again?! My last U211 assignment was in last month so i'm waiting for my exam now too. 10 days and counting :eek:Make £5 a day in July - £105.33/£155

Thank you Imajica !!
I have been reading through the "preparing for A100" web pages and yesterday went and bought the Dr Faustus set text to have a read through. This weekend I am hoping to find a copy of The Faber Book of Beasts to start looking at too.
There seems to be a bit I can do to prepare for this course so thats good. OU have also offered me some extra support should I need it.
Good luck to everyone with exams coming up !! Next year it might be me

Guess who did exactly the same thing yesterday too - although for a different course.....and I honestly hadn't done the same two months ago with the previous TMA. :eek:It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

:rotfl:I've always started my assignments at the last possible opportunity - that used to be the same day as the deadline when it was midnight but now it is 12 noon I do all-nighters which is not good when you have three little ones to look after the next day!
I'm determined to get this one completed at least a day before the deadline this time....Mortgage start September 2015 £90000 MFiT #060 -
Hi all
Is there anyone else on AA100 ???
I am just wondering (if it is allowed) if someone can send me the question for TMA1 - I don't want any answers or anything - just the question so I can have a look through it and see what the TMAs are like. It also doesn't matter if it is an out of date question because it is just so I can guage what is going to be expected of me !!
So impatient to get going now !!

Not much science being done here by all accounts, is there?
Previous History:
A103 Introduction to the Humanities (2003) - put me off the whole discipline for life, but loved summer school. 60pts level 1.
Y161 Introducing Environment (2008) Enjoyed this a lot. 10 pts level 1.
U216 Environment (2009) Was OK but too much social sciences and the course was filled with 'oh gosh, why didn't the OU tell me I should read the textbook before the exam' types. 60 pts level 2.
This year:
S104 Exploring Science (2009) My favourite course so far. Love the subject, have a great average on OCAS, pride has suddenly got in the way and I worked darn hard for the 27 page ECA. Very intensive course and can't believe how much work is involved compared to my level 2 courses. Fingers crossed for a good mark as the course finished 2 days ago. 60pts level 1.
SXR103 Practising Science (2010) I know I'm going to love this in August. 10pts level 1.
TA212 Technology of Music (2010) It's OK, the more musical people are a little disappointed, but I'm enjoying the science side a lot. Finishes in September. 60 pts level 2. Off to an interregional day school this weekend, which is a new thing, especially as I've got to travel up on my own by public transport and stay in a hotel. The ECA looks like it's going to take ages, but appears straightforward at the same time.
After September:
Possibly S154 Scientific Investigations (2010). If I get funding. If I don't, I shall be buying an electric bass and spending the money on lessons. 10 pts level 1 but useful skills for future dissertation. Or for pretending to be John Entwistle.
Definitely S216 Environmental Science (2011) 60 pts level 2.
Definitely SXR216 Environmental Science in the Field (2011) 10 pts level 2.
After that, will probably do the 2012 practical science level 2 course (30 or 60 pts, when they decide which it is to be), and definitely want to do Oceanography (30 pts level 3), probably Ecosystems (30 pts level 3), any level 3 environmental science and practical courses and a project to get the BSc Hons, depending on what the restructured Science pathways are at that point.
I've also started volunteering work at an ecology centre in hope that the experience stands me in good stead. And I really enjoy it.
After that, hopefully a Masters and finally a PhD. Then hopefully, I do something useful with my life.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0
