There are loads of rumours about, the only one thats confirmed is that they are fitting cable ties to the cables inside the box

But this wasn't a rumour - it was from the engineer taking the box away.....
NO EXCUSES - THIS YEAR IT'S PERSONAL..........

We asked what the fault was and he first said he wasn't allowed to tell us:confused: but then said it was to do with overtightened screws which could cause the plastic case of the sky box to crack at anytime.

2 engineers and 2 stories, they dont know the problem they are only romours, look on other forums engineers are telling all sorts of things.

Its still a rumour even if it came from the 'installer'. Installers may or may not work directly for Sky.

If I had a pound for every line an installer told me that was a complete fabrication, I'd have at least a tenner :)

I have just had 2 new samsung boxes put in, these are about the 8th boxes in each room that we have had since october 08  they over heat, thats the fault with them, and because of this it burns the plastic and then they stink,
:rotfl: not funny really cos it is a foul smell.

Now nearly 3 month since heard about this and have heard nothing from Sky. My bix is one that is affected. Have no problems with it. Do i wait or get in toch with them. Not too worried about any problems with the box as i have sky repair plan. Normal box i had replaced 3 time in as many weeks so paid for its self in that time.

Your lucky! I have one of the affected boxes. They kept ringing me from that strange sky number until they eventually got me, asked to arrange a swap out. I asked to be guaranteed a new Pace box, they wouldn't so I declined. The CS lady accepted this and put it on file - supposedly!

The other day I got a letter saying they had tried to call me but not succeeded and can I call them to arrange it.
right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing eh?

Anyway I have looked into this and as an electronics engineer for 25 years I am satisfied to keep my new, perfect, lovely Pace HD box. I see no reason to spend an afternoon with a Sky installer trying to steal it and dump a 5 year old Thomson refurb on me. Thanks, but no thanks.
