Sorry, OT a bit but something someone said (can't find it now) made me want to ask this- what are you meant to do with post that comes to the wrong address/name?
We always pop it in the postbox with "not at this address" on it.This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine:kisses2: Fiancee of the "lovely" DaveAshton :kisses2:I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine.0 -

You're supposed to write "Not known at this address. Return to sender." and stick it in the post box (or give it to your postman). There's no way they would charge for taking that sort of stuff - we're arguing over what happens when you know where the person lives. They have to take it back to the sender but I've often thought that they don't mind really - if half of people don't bother sending it back, half the companies won't realise they've got the wrong address, so half the revenue (it's business mail, so apparently not loss-making) will keep coming to RM, which is why they never publicise openly what you should do. You still should though, cos it's annoying as hell to keep getting crap through the post.0 -
I see they are putting the price of postage up......
I have just got a book of 12 1st class stamps which will probably take over a year to use...
And maybe 3 Large 1st class stamps... again might use them by xmas....
They are marked 1st class........
Will these still be valid as 1st class stamps until I use them0 -

Yes. Anything marked '1st' or '2nd' rather than a specific price is valid indefinitely. Buy another packet while you still can!0 -
What happens if you manage to damage the tabs whilst removing it from the backing? I've torn stickers whilst peeling them off of their backing, it happens quite easily, but I confess it hasn't happened to a stamp...yet..but these tabs look very flimsy. We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0

I was just about to ask exactly the same thing!
Seems like a pointless idea, as those who "reuse" stamps will continue to do so, and I don't see how this will stop them.A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -

um thats the whole point of the new stamps
the new stamps will have a backing so the whole unit is 'one' piece
its only on bremoval that the other parts split
like security seals etc0 -

As it is they have to play a super-charged game of catch-up just to survive. A test for a good business (or organisation, or whatever you want to call it) is to ask whether it would look the same were it to be built from scratch tomorrow; in RM's case the answer is nowhere near yes.
hmmm so the fact that RM has to charge more than its competitors for business mail has no bearing?
the fact it was under invested in for many years has no bearing?
the fact the UK jumped in before being ready has no bearing.
remember most competitors still have a safe home market
yet again we want modern etc etc but we want all the old RM trimmings
so where is this free redirection service you mention? For years RM advised people who received other people's mail to write the new address (if they knew it) on the envelope and re-post it free. It's still common with students away at university for this to happen, and no one ever questions it. The one time I moved house and did use the 'proper' redirection service it was awful - the system picked it up only about half the time (meaning we had to keep going round to our old house to collect it anyway!), and even if it did it took a week to be redirected a few streets away.
so when was the last time you saw RM state this? was it in the last decade?
as for your redirection.thats down to a postie failure there is no big fancy redirection machine
thats where having a regular postie pays dividends considering many items of mail fail redirections due to wrong addresses in the first placeomelette451 wrote: »You're supposed to write "Not known at this address. well now that depends in if its RM mail or downstream access competitor mail doesnt it?0 -
RM being more competitive was one of the first things i suggested on joining the company. Guess what? They weren't allowed to be by the government when the market opened up
Guess everyone will just need to be more careful with the new stamps4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -

and cutting round the edge of the stamp will still be possible?:rolleyes:Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
