Chapter 48 of the Post OFfice Act 1908 states that all post must be paid for, so it would suggest that if someone is not paying for that item to be delivered, then you are breaking the law.

Would that cover reusing a stamp that hadn't been marked on its way through the system? Not being party to the original argument, I assumed that's what we were hotly debating :D

It's possible it would cover it, but an unfranked stamp is an unfranked stamp, and when you recieved the envelope it was on the, unfranked stamp becomes your property (unless it always remains the property of the crown (Queens head and all that)), A lot of people would not know that using the unfranked stamp was any sort of crime so there would be no deception. That would be an argument that would need to be bashed out in court.

    HOWEVER,

I and others were actually talking about moving an unused stamp from one unposted envelope to another. The person has bought and paid for the stamp and should be allowed to use it, even if that involves cutting it off the envelope and then sticking it to another envelope. This would definately NOT be a crime of obtaining pecuniary advantage by deception.

Nope, sorry I'm confused. I thought we were talking about potentially defrauding the PO, when did it switch to drunk driving?

she's using the 'everyones doing it' rational so you can do anything as long as you tell yourself everyones doing it
she actually posted on a thread she was saving (over 60 so far) unfranked stamps to send her wedding invites out
