Rusty, every now and then you will get a doctor that is judgemental and harsh. Ignore them and have the strength to be proud of who you are and move onto the next doctor. Eventually you will find one that just wants to make sick people better and will be kind and offer you the help you need. What you need is a referral to a physiotherapist and primarily an X-Ray then possibly a scan to see if you have any permanent damage or changes.

It sounds to me as thought your bad leg is sciatica. Do you feel as though it is badly bruised, does it sometimes come on so strong.. say.. when you are out shopping that it is hard to walk.. and you don't know whether to laugh or cry with the pain. When you lie in bed, do your legs feel restless, as if they are crawling?

My second guess would be that you have a trapped nerve. This is incredibly painful and is very suddenly onset. When you move in a certain way you suddenly have a surge of pain that makes you shout involuntarily. This also prevents you from lifting your legs high because your brain is sending a signal not to allow the pressure in the spine.

As your doctor is away at the weekend I would suggest the following:
+ Sit down and have a chat with your partner telling him that you cannot do a b c and you need him to help.
+ Bite the bullet and call his parents sooner rather than later. YOU are the boss of your own world now get a grip and be the strong woman I know you are. Your primary concern is your children and if his parents can't allow you time off to recover then they aren't worth associating with. But please call sooner rather than later as they need to know early to arrange cover.

+ Get a hot water bottle pronto and keep it stuffed down the back of your trousers. This will alleviate the tenderness and some swelling.

+ Take ibuprofen to alleviate muscle swelling immediately.

+ Most people recommend a bath, don't do this as it makes the muscles relax and when you come to get back out you will be in a world of pain.

I'm not a doctor by a long shot but I hope my advice helps you. I know how miserable it is to have back pain and have to carry on with things and you need to just focus on that certain time of night where you know it is your time and you can relax.

    Loves to you xx

Rusty none of us here are qualified/allowed to give you medical advice as wedon't know exactly what is going on with your back/leg and body! You really need to get yourself some sort of medical opinion as I am worried about you!!

I know how hard it is when you are sick and worried about going to work (you all know what my boss is like!) but you need to get better and make sure that you don't aggravate whatever your back condition is, don't make it worse honey!! Please ring in sick!

I wish I was nearer as I would be round like a shot so I could do a quick nursie check and I would call the gp for you and he/she would definitely come and they wouldn't be rude to you either!!

    Take care honey xxx

Rusty, take care of yourself & PLEASE dont go into work, I think all the work you did yesterday has aggrevated your back & doing more is going to just make it worse & put you in a lot more pain. I know you dont want to let your In-laws down but if you make it worse its going to affect your family even more.

I suffer from trapped nerves at times in my back & its agony, I find the very best thing for it is to have my OH massage gently the area where the pain stems from, would yours be willing to do this?

I think so. OH bought them before we went away and I think he just got the individual DVDs from series 4 iyswim. I think we may take them back and hold out for the set as you get the specials in the box set. it is bound to be reduced at some point.
how is your jaw today - hope it is getting better.

Thankyou lovely ladies, I phoned MIL about an hour ago and told her OH is doing my shift, she was fine about it which I knew she would be but I just hate letting people down. OH is going to cover my shift for me tonight.

Mel I swore my leg was sciatica for months mainly because of how the pain is, I had sciatica when I was pregnant with both of mine but the pain was mainly in my bum. However I am now convinced it is the same with my back cause throughout the day today the pain has been right at the top of my bum and felt exactly like it did when I was pregnant with the monkeys!
So I am not in work tonight, I plan to stay drugged up and have a hot water bottle and lots of deep heat on standby ... the best news of the day is that my lovely DS is home xxxxx

Thankyou once again all you lovely ladies xxxx

i am back....to the luxury of broadband and wi-fi, oh and zillions of washing ,load 3 now on!

we have had a wonderful weeks holiday ,great weather apart from yesterday when it poured all day.

I have eaten my own body weight in French bread and pain au chocolat! Found the low euro horrific, we have holidayed in france for years and I have never felt the pinch like I did this time. Don't know what French for 'Oi! will you be reducing these croissants soon...it's after 6pm!' actually I could but don't know if I would get thrown out of the shop!

I lifted a large pan with a glass lid to see how much it was .....dropped lid and it shattered into tiny, tiny pieces. Shop staff stared at me , I said ' Je regrette.....' and just stood there in a sea of glass. Untidy 12 year old standing next to me saying what are you going to do??

I looked to see how much it was thinking OMG it would be about 50 euros but it was only 5....a bargain, I would have bought it if it hadn't been the last one.....we joked on the way home about me asking for it to be reduced as it didn't have a lid!!

Anyway, I am back and I'm sitting down with handful of rich tea biscuits...well I'm still on holiday...and going to read all your posts.

well, that has taken over an hour to read all your posts, even managed to eat a chinese takeaway whilst reading...........I need to do a wee shop as we have no milk or bread and I have run out of fabric conditioner. Wash number 5 has just finished.

My 2 cats are pleased to see us......they were in cattery for a week and dog was at my mums.

Dog in garden behind has stopped barking at the mo........barked for 2 hours solidly before, it has been put in a makeshift run and has barked and howled.......how it's owner can't hear it is beyond me....I am monitoring the situation. Not what you need when you have been driving for over 8 hours!!

You have all been busy being thrifty and gifty, we had a lovely easter egg hunt will get my OH to show me how to do photos and you can see my little easter chick!

the sun has been shining here this afternoon and as we drove up through the whole of England it looked nice there! Hope you have a good w'end. It's nice to be back! (sad but true!)
