I love that poem - i like it without the so marginally better - was going to read it to mr phunkles but decided against it bit of a touchy subject ala his family at the mo.
My no spend week has been blown wide apart by a lovely demand from uni for fees this week or im not sure what the ultimatum actually was.
Mothers day - im a bad daughter I bought a card because it has a fridge magnet with a cute little poem on it.
And ive drawn a serious blank on what to buy her or make her that shell appreciate.
mrphunkles has gone out shopping, but his family are doing my headi disowned his brother last night and am now refusing to talk to him.
So thats my daily grumble - although im about to raid my cd collection for all the cds I bought when I was a rich student just for one song - ala Ray Lamontayne (or however its spelt) and Paulo Nutini and see if I can make some money so I can at least afford to eat next week on my mini adventure
Jammy I dont want to admit it but I may have shattered a glass coaster the other night - however mine was attempting to crack open a Terrys Chocolate Orange - Tap and un wrap my a$$
Love to the lovely ladiesLove is the answer. At least for most of the questions in my heart,
Like why are we here? And where do we go?And how come it's so hard?
It's not always easy,And sometimes life can be deceiving,
I'll tell you one thing, its always better when we're together0 -
:rotfl: @ Phunkles, don't TAP it, WHACK it!! :rotfl: But maybe that is what you did hence why you broke the coaster :rotfl:
Jammy - you're a dope! :rotfl: Glad you didn't hurt yourself!
Rainmac - your cards are lovely, I hope I get as good as that one day!
Sugarspun - awww shame you can't go home. It's not fun being ill away from home, you take it easy
Okay I am going to ask you all for some inspiration. My mum is blind and I want to try and make her something quite simple for mothers day (she knows shes getting it late because I totally forgot about it!) I say quite simple because I am not very good at all this crafty malarky yet! I might just make her a card but a really touchy feely one and i'm getting somebody to write a braille message for me. What do you all think?
I'm going to make my MIL a card too then we're just going to get her some flowers. And I suppose we'll have to go round to see her :rotfl::heart: Think happy & you'll be happy

Afternoon ladies
Had a nice day out shopping, came back with 8 more note books to be altered, someone gave me a brilliant link on the card thread and I have jus tprinted out pages and pages to cover some of them.
Has anyone seen the lovely "freinds and family card planner"s in The Works? exMIL bought me one today as I cant make it to her birthday lunch next week and its fab, so pretty, got a glittery cover and 24 glittery cards inside in pockets 2 for each month. On the pocket for each month you can write whos birthday it is and then keep a list in the pocket with what you have bought. At the back is an address book so you can keep tabs of addresses as well. It was 4.99, not bad, I doubt I would have bought it for myself as I am terrible at buying myself nice things, I always think I'd rather buy something for someone else instead. Will give me something to do over the weekend if I am at a loss as to what to do.
She loved her knitted waistcoat I made her so was glad that went down well, is the first one I have knitted and actually given to someone as the rest are stashed away for later in the year.
Anyway, better get on with these altered books while I am in the mood.
Catch you all later xx0 -
won't tell you what I've just eaten whilst catching up on 3 pages today....Miss Piggy!
going out to cut my grass while it's still nice, so that should work off a packet of crisps and a Double Decker!
Been to work and back! 2 more sleeps till Oh comes home although he's leaving Oz at 5am tomorrow our time.
Enjoy your evening Mx0 -
Well I have just eaten 3 chocolate covered shortcake biscuits dunked in a nice cup of horlicks (well it was the light version;))
Have finished covering 3 notebooks one which is for myself, will have to sit and copy out my notes from my other one which is really tatty and ready for the bin.
Forgot to say earlier that £10 of my daily click money went in the bank this morning so I bought OH 2 lynx sprays and 2 lynx shower gels which will all be wrapped separately so thats now 12/30 presents sorted. Sounding better now.
And I just won on bingo so I'm a few more points nearer to my next Amazon voucher:T.
Have a lovely evening everyone xx0 -
Ooooh not long til he's home mhagster, bet you can't wait!
Well do you know what I have been doing for the past 3 hours? Trying to make one simple little card for my MIL! And have I made one yet? Have I eck!! I am so uncreative it's not even funny! I've got a magazine with cards to copy but I they're all a bit eastery (is that a word??) and I want a mothers day kinda card.
I shall not give up! I've got to make my mum one yet!
Okay so I told a fib, I haven't actually spent 3 hours trying to make a card, I kept looking for inspiration online and would get distracted :rotfl: I tried an exploding box but my cards really thin so I think i'll get some proper card and try again.
I also tried making some little fortune cookies I saw on somebodys blog and I couldn't even do them! :rotfl:
I don't think I belong on this thread, I am far too uncrafty!! Think happy & you'll be happy

Back from work and there was only 3 pages to catch up with today - have you all hurt your hands????
Hope you're ok jammy - I now have another thing to add to my list of eyelet setting don'ts as I have a glass dining table that I work on can you imagine the mess from that .
I was glad that you listed what you'd eaten mhagster I was worried that you had eaten either furrypig or little miss furrypig :rotfl:.
What a beautiful poem scatty really brought a tear to my eye that will be the second time today. A friend at work has some congenital disease that she carries but only comes out in boys so her sons have the symptoms her sister's son has the same condition and died at school yesterday and his mum works there so saw it all - can you imagine how awful she must feel? My friends son was at the hospital that day for his checkup to see how he's progressing otherwise he would have been there as well. Really puts my moans and groans into perspective.
I don't think I've heard of a broody man before JS - I was 30 when I had DS and it was still an enormous shock - mainly because of the emergency C-section but the drugs are wonderful - it's a shame they don't let you keep taking them until they leave home :rotfl::rotfl:.
DD has brought her recorder home today to practise - I don't think I need to say anymore do I? I felt really sorry for 2 of the other mums as they have 2 children in the same class so they will get the excruciating "tunes" in stereo - that's one of the downsides of having a village school where they teach 2 years in one class to make up the numbers - 95 children from reception to year 6 and they built us a new school 3 years ago which I was surprised at as i thought they would just bus them out.Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended
