What about the people who cannot work. I claim benefits because I had to give up work last year. I am a carer for my husband and look after my 2 children as well. What would happen in your opinion to families like me.
Good question, but I don't think its reasonable for people to have unending support from taxpayers without doing something for the community in return.0 -
Cut the level of Tax credits that are being spunked out to the Chav's to spend on B&H and WKD blue.
Typical socialist state to pay a single woman and 2 kids more for working 16 hours a week that a married man earns for a 37 hour week.0 -

Why is it OK for people to come onto these forums to see if people can help them with their "entitlements"?
Why is it not OK to come on here and show just how much money is being squandered and spent badly? That is the taxpayers money after all.
I think you'll find that there is a swell of opinion AGAINST the system/present government as we have it just now.
There are quite a few people on here that I would consider have different views to me (I guess you could label me as left, them as right, but I think this is completely unhelpful as they are redundant terms nowadays).
People like Amcluescent, Dopester, Ad9898, !!!!!!?, Mewbie, Macque, Poppy10 and probably loads of others, have what I would call a different viewpoint to me (I'm not banding you all in as the same viewpoint of course, just different to me on a variety of issues). However, they come on here and argue their points in an intelligent, non-offensive (most of the time), humourous (apart from !!!!!!? of course...) way that means you can engage with them, and I enjoy reading their posts. I sometimes completely and utterly disagree with them (as I'm sure they do with me), but that doesn't matter as they further the debate and make you think twice.
I think some of the regulars on here (and I've not been around too long, so I don't know if I'd include myself in that) have made references recently that there are quite a few posters just coming with a form of nihilist, white-hate for absolutely everything. It's almost like a new form of social class: the hating class, that finds revulsion and hatred for the working class 'chav scum', the middle class 'daily mail idiots' and the upper class 'toff government, banking elite, you'll find everyone feels the same, we all hate the workshy etc. etc etc'. They basically hate everything without being particulary constructive or adding anything. And whilst people can obviously post whatever the hell they like of course, it gets a bit tiresome.
I'm not saying you're doing any of the above of course (although your "I think you'll find that there is a swell of opinion AGAINST the system/present government as we have it just now" comment is a bit guilty of just generalistic sloganeering.). I'm just saying that good debate about how benefits are spent and the welfare state, for example, aren't really advanced with "This country is down the pan, Clown has ruined it, chavvy workshy scum are ruining my life, you're all b*satrds". Just becomes a bit dull after a while.
Anyway, rant at no one in particular over. I'm off to make a stroganoff.0 -

I agree but it would be impossible at the moment for either of us to go out to work, hence why I had to leave last year.
What sort of "work" would people find acceptable for a family where 1 person is solely reliable on another 24/7.I used to suffer from lack of motivation.... now I just can't be arsed.

I agree with the last 2 posters. The only "hate" that I feel is for the sheep who pour in through the forum dishing out hate and contempt. I have only hate & contempt for THEM

Anybody can be hit by hard times. People get sick, they have car crashes/strokes/illnesses. Then overnight they are "on benefits". Can happen to anybody - even the smartasses in here.
If these benefits werent there then these people would vanish underfoot. Like victiorian times. Surely it isnt so hard for humans to go forward instead of back ? I thought that was the point if evolution for goddsake :rolleyes:0 -

Ah you didn't make that clear - that you cared for someone 24/7.
I thought you had a working partner and had opted to become a home maker (the PC term I believe) in which case I don't think state support should be unending.
As a 24/7 carer I think that is certainly not the case and providing support to you is exactly what the welfare state should be about. Infact I'd go as far as saying that helping you and people in your position is an example of the sort of community benefiting work that long term recipients of state support should be required to do (e.g. help with shopping etc)
I have issues with the concept of people getting something for nothing as it breeds the idea that society owes you which I think is greatly damaging.0 -
lostinrates -- NOTHING in nature is without a point. And one of the things that differentiates us from the animal kingdom is we are supposed to have qualities like humour and compassion !!
Although somedays in here thats hard to believe.0 -

I don't feel separated from the animal kingdom...I am an animal
. Its as yet, inconclusive what qualities are present elsewhere in the animal kingdom. Early animal scientists used to suggest it was religion that separated us and them. 0 -

it's the nature of some people to sit on their high horses and judge others without looking at themselves.0
