Not yet. I tried Murray Cod. Very, very good. $20/kg so expensive by local standards.

Wookster - Biarritz is great. A real French family resort. It's a bit like Eastbourne or something in that it was once a really opulent place. Unlike most UK seaside places it's still very nice and has great weather. Very good surfing there too.

yes agree with Generali, Biarritz is very nice and great for the family

not sure about La Baule - it seemed to be a bit too much like a tourist resort.
i was only there for a day so probably in the wrong part.

It is a tourist resort but I nice one I think.

I lived near there so perhaps have my judgement clouded by fond memories.

i was comparing it to Biaritz and felt it was nicer if i had to choose between the two.

i'll take your judgement on it as i was only there for a day :)

I think I'd agree Biarritz is the nicer of the two places.

I think I'm correct in thinking creatures such as Lobster and Clams take many years to reach maturity, so I find it somewhat unsettling that merely for a momentary taste sensation we would seek to kill and eat them.

    Lobsters in particular.
Surely we can rise above our petty desire for a momentary taste sensation when it comes to steardship of the planet?

a good point, I suggest we all get patriotic and eat only crayfish for the month of march - the delicious pidgeons of the British Waterways! (for those of us now residing in Austrlaia - there are more of them than of us - when the sharks stop eating us we'll stop eating the yabbbies)

I don't mean to be rude Conrad, just pleasantly flippant. Seafood is yummy and as far as I know, I don't eat anything which is endangered (I gave up cod years ago). Can now eat cod again as residing outside overfished waters.

Mrs Gen...are you going to become a regular poster? :)

Um, I'm not sure. I have lurked for years and stood behind Generali giving my 2 cents worth - maybe it's time. Then again, I have now left the UK so maybe I don't have the rights anymore...

I certainly love this forum, especially when it all gets off topic and a bit out of control (sorry those of you who like to stick to the topic, but it's all a bit much for my escapist brain).:j

beware all of you, there are many more out there watching your conversations.

I think as an 'outsider' who has lived here it gives a nice viewpoint. It would be nice to 'see' you here. I think its mainly the men who like to keep On topic. Weirdly, from my p.o.v., linear thinking is sometimes the problem in topics....and probably part of how we got to this sorry state of affairs. But we can't post in mind maps I guess.

Quite why people are entitled to benefits for doing nothing is beyond me. The simple notion that just by existing you are entitled to housing and a stipend is ludicrous. It breeds laziness in some quarters.

I would ensure that claimants would have to undertake some voluntary work or community service of some sort.

What about the people who cannot work. I claim benefits because I had to give up work last year. I am a carer for my husband and look after my 2 children as well. What would happen in your opinion to families like me.
I used to suffer from lack of motivation.... now I just can't be arsed.
